We have just returned from our 1st visit to Dornafield & loved everything about it. Great facilities, particularly the baby bath for our 18 month old. Lovely talking to Peter who genuinely cares about whether guests are enjoying their stay. Can't wait to return.

What a beautiful part of the country and ths site didn't disappoint we stayed fully serviced in blackrock copse with your own elsan point and bin shared between 2 pitches apart from 2 issues for me firstly the pitches only being 10 amp cant understand in this day and age why all camp sites aren't 16 amp especially when your... Have recently had another great visit to this wonderful campsite in our tent. Each year we think let's try a different campsite but always end up coming here for a week as we can't fault anything with the site - hence our 7th visit. The field for the tents is fantastic - spacious pitches and this year the added bonus... More

What a lovely site. Enjoyed every minute, returning hopefully in October. Excellent value for money and central to visit area. Daughter lives south of Exeter which means site is quite handy to see her when returning from annual hols in Cornwall even though the racecourse site is only two minutes from her house. Would recommend this site as granddaughter when... More

Lovely site, great dog walking areas, nice people. Fully serviced pitches, approach to the site down a small lane, which was an interesting experience as I have limited experience. Good location for broader roaming.

Dear Holidays_r_brill So pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Dornafield and that enjoyed the area. The lane is narrow in places but if customers depart and arrive on time we don't have a problem and the hedges will soon be cut which makes it a lot wider. Best Wishes SImon More

Excellent site with great on pitch facilities, everything is immaculate and the place is well maintained, would recommend Blackrock Copse for a less congested, 'busy' area, daisy dell cul de sac is perfect hideaway, close to the facilities but no through road makes it quiet and safe. Good sun trap too! Very good dog walking area, totally fenced in right... More

Dear andywallaceuk So sorry about the British weather you must have been very unlucky as this spring and summer have been quite dry. But i am so please that you enjoyed Dornafield and all its facilities, all the staff here always have time for a chat and are caravaners so are a wealth of knowledge and the TMO is one... More

In all our 30+ years of touring this is the best site we have visited by far. Very clean facilities, pitches have plenty of room and as we chose fully serviced pitch we didn't have much to do once all hooked up! All the staff were lovely, helpful and kept the whole site looking really pretty and tidy. It really... More

The site is well located just of the Totnes to Newton Abbott road. The entrance is impressive when you arrive, the staff are very friendly. The shop is well stocked. There is one major issue with the site no one respects the 5 mile an hour speed limit. The other guests, the golf carts, the lawn mower and the tractor.... More

Dear lee a Many thanks for leaving a review and really please you enjoyed all the facilities at Dornafield. As for your comment about speed around the site our lawnmowers and baby tractors are not fast but because of the way they are designed they run at pretty much full revs which might give the impression that they may be... We have just returned from a 4 night stay, we camped in a tent and it has to be the cleanest and tidiest campsite we have ever visited. We arrived midweek and were surprised at how busy it was, but we know why. It is situated in a very picturesque location and has everything needed for a countryside vacation. We... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The fourteenth-century farmhouse, once besieged by irate Roundheads during the civil war, forms the focal point of the site, and the surrounding buildings have been adapted for your use but still retain their characteristic Devonshire charm, making a warm and happy holiday atmosphere. Dornafield has three very individual areas. The Orchard, small and cosy, is ideal for tents and adjoins Buttermeadow, our original award winning development. Overlooking part of Buttermeadow is our most recent addition Blackrock Copse with its state of the art facilities. There are no residential or letting caravans on site and we have no clubhouse or bar but we can easily direct you to a wealth of local historic inns nearby. Stay at Dornafield and enjoy Devon through the seasons. Carpets of wild daffodils and primroses greet our first visitors as violets sprinkle the hedges and old stone walls spring to life. By early summer bluebells cover Blackrock copse and the Devon banks are a riot of pink, white and blue. Soon it will be haymaking time and neighbouring fields turn from green to gold. High summer sees Dornafield lush and full of flowers with buzzards wheeling overhead but those able to wait are rewarded with a farewell burst of brilliance as oak and beech, ash and maple turn to the russets of autumn, and squirrels and badgers reap the abundance of our Devonshire countryside. ... more   less
