Where do i start!!! After driving through bustling Fowey our sat nav told us to get a ferry and we really wondered where we were going to end up We should not have worried however as we ended up in all i could say was a little bit of paradise Beautiful quirky hotel, amazing food and a stunning view of... Historic, great rooms, clean and with spectacular views of whole estuary. Food was great, big breakfast and stunning evening meal (beef stew with olives is highly recommended) with great presentation. Friendly, good wines and beers. Recommend park car in Fowey and get to this place via the ferry. Loved it and will return.

What a gem of a place, the terrace has the most amazing view out to sea. The dining room was fully booked as we only called in on speck. We were able to eat in the bar area. I truly have never had such an amazing meal, I really had to suppress the urge to lick my plate! Fresh fish... More

My wife and I and our two dogs were 8k into our walk, which takes in Fowey. Finding Fowey very cramped with few places to eat outside unless its a pasty we then continued on our walk taking the ferry again through Bodinnick-by- Fowey. We knew there was an Inn on the otherside but took pasties from Fowey with us... More

Wake up to the beautiful sight of the water and lovely boats in a historical setting. Pure silence and fresh air. More than a getaway, a slice of heaven. The room was comfortable and charming. Be sure to have dinner in the restaurant, it was amazingly good, best sea food I have had in a long time.

We would recommend this pub for both drinks and meals. We tried to book the restaurant but it was fully booked. We ate dinner in here twice during our stay and the food was lovely. The place has a quirky feel to it being an old and interesting building. The views over Fowey are excellent if you sit up on... More

I am 55 and that would have to be to worst food I have ever eaten. All four of us felt the same. We we were told they were fully booked, sat us in another area and nobody came in to eat while we were there. Disgraceful! !

We were staying in fowey for the week and caught the boddinick ferry over to the old ferry inn. Brilliant evening meal. Presentation and taste of the food was fantastic. Highly recommend the chocolate fondant pudding. You can see polperro and fowey from the restaurant window, such amazing views while you're eating. The waitress was friendly and efficient. She always... More

Had lunch here in this great freehouse owned by a very funny Frenchman. Well with a visit for the ales and food but a must to experience the views from the outside terraces and trip across the river on the boddinick ferry, lunch and dinner served .

Booked a table in the restaurant. Food was good but unfortunately the waiting staff let the evening down from arrival to leaving. She gave the impression she couldn't be bothered, she couldn't even raise a smile. Rude on arrival and didn't ask if food was ok during or after the meal. We didn't stay for deserts or drinks due to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated on the banks of the Fowey River Estuary in the picturesque village of Bodinnick, The Old Ferry is a quintessential Cornish Inn that has been providing accommodation and refreshment for over 400 years. We overlook the Bodinnick to Fowey ferry which can trace its roots back to the 13th Century, and 'Ferryside' the former family home of Daphne du Maurier. The Inn with its relaxed and warm welcome has many traditional features including a wood burner and stone slate floor, and is full of old photographs, nautical bric-a-brac and memorabilia. The perfect place to while away time during the winter months. Our panoramic restaurant gives fantastic river views towards the town of Fowey and the village of Polruan. There are also south facing outside terraces which also have splendid estuary views, and capture the sun all day, a perfect retreat for a summers day. ... more   less
