A beautiful place to stay if you like to get away from it all. Wonderful views across to Fowey with all its little boats from most of the rooms, from every seat in the dining room and from the terrace. Comfortable beds, delicious evening meals cooked by the French chef/owner and no problem if people have a gluten-free diet. As... More

This was our first stay in Fowey, which is definitely worth a visit. We had arrived at 5pm that day and not really knowing the area we opted to try the Old Ferry Inn which we had come across on our journey to where we were staying. Unfortunately we were disappointed, we arrived at 20.05 pm, the bar maid serving... More

Cant beat the location! Not as much atmosphere as when the previous landlord had it but its definitely improved inside. Fully booked when i stayed and that was before peak times. Food was great too. Garden has amazing views and the sun sets on that side of the river. Service was excellent!

We visited this place for lunch on a previous holiday in Cornwall and were looking forward to having lunch there again. When we went previously the lunch menu had fish dishes and a choice of food to suit most people. This visit was something totally different, there was a choice of sandwiches which could be bought in any town centre... More

The room was dated, with off white towels which need replacing. Although the view from our room was lovely. Our bathroom was situated down the hallway with our own key for privacy, and off white robes were supplied. For breakfast I asked for poached egg and sausage. The plate arrived with one solitary egg and a cheap sausage. This was... More

Lovely view from our bedroom of the river, shame the room smelt as if a dog had stayed in it. When I mentioned the smell on check out it was not well received. Breakfast was great plenty to eat and well cooked. The barmaid is in desperate need of customer service skills she is so very rude, management really need... More

We stayed in Room 11, which had lovely river views & was very comfortable. Our Grandson slept on a zed-bed, an arrangement which worked very well for us. The Inn has such wonderful character & is in an ideal position. The food was DELICIOUS, and I would highly recommend the kippers for breakfast!

This local pub on the B side of the Fowey ferry was a revelation. Friendly staff and locals were surprisingly laid back and friendly. The views from the terraces, especially at sunset were fantastic. The highlight was the (good) restaurant quality food. We were staying close by and ate here 3 times. Each time, we couldn't fault the food. Superb!

May have caught the barmaid on a bad day, but she really didn't want to be there. We really felt a nuisance ordering drinks. Let alone bar meals. One to be avoided. Perhaps just one for the locals? Shame as it has such potential due to its location

The best thing about The Old Ferry Inn must be the room over the River Fowey to the town of Fowey on the other side – definitely worth getting a river view room for that. Sadly, the hotel itself is a rather tired affair and on several occasions I could not help thinking that a visit from Alex Polizzi would... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated on the banks of the Fowey River Estuary in the picturesque village of Bodinnick, The Old Ferry is a quintessential Cornish Inn that has been providing accommodation and refreshment for over 400 years. We overlook the Bodinnick to Fowey ferry which can trace its roots back to the 13th Century, and 'Ferryside' the former family home of Daphne du Maurier. The Inn with its relaxed and warm welcome has many traditional features including a wood burner and stone slate floor, and is full of old photographs, nautical bric-a-brac and memorabilia. The perfect place to while away time during the winter months. Our panoramic restaurant gives fantastic river views towards the town of Fowey and the village of Polruan. There are also south facing outside terraces which also have splendid estuary views, and capture the sun all day, a perfect retreat for a summers day. ... more   less
