The best thing about The Old Ferry Inn must be the room over the River Fowey to the town of Fowey on the other side – definitely worth getting a river view room for that. Sadly, the hotel itself is a rather tired affair and on several occasions I could not help thinking that a visit from Alex Polizzi would... More

We stayed close by to this pub and visited mainly for drinks and to sit watching the boats on the estuary. There's and elevated terraced to sit on outdoors giving great views up the estuary as the picture shows. Great quiet spot with the Hall Walk on route. We ate once and the food was good.

Lovely setting with great views from the terrace and restaurant, very friendly bar man . The food at dinner was superb. Some of rooms had amazing views unfortunately we don't have one of those, but ours did cost less. Short walk down to the ferry which takes you across to Fowey.

Spend one night here on a mini Cornish road trip. Absolutely excellent. A very well preserved old pub/hotel - with great atmosphere. Enjoyed taking the ferry over to Fowey - spent a fab day there and it was lovely to come back to the inn for an evening meal. - which was excellent as was breakfast. Favourite stop over of... More

Arrived in Cornwall today ... Walked down to the local pub for a few drinks and evening meal... After a long journey... Could have had our business for a fortnight but won't be going again... "Firstly can I say the food was absolutely beautiful and extremely well presented and thought through" However a 400 year old stunning pub is missing... More

The inn is located next to the ferry between Bodinnick and Fowey. We arrived by car after driving down the narrow roads from Polpero. Free parking is available just up the hill in a confined yard. For shops and amenities you can take the ferry into Fowey. The pub had a charming old bar a nice guest sitting room with... More

A lovely place to have lunch after walking from Polruan, Hall Walk. Sat outside in the sun with an excellent view of the river. Very good ham and wholemeal sandwich. Can vouch for a tasty menu from other visits.

Historic, great rooms, clean and with spectacular views of whole estuary. Food was great, big breakfast and stunning evening meal (beef stew with olives is highly recommended) with great presentation. Friendly, good wines and beers. Recommend park car in Fowey and get to this place via the ferry. Loved it and will return.

What a gem of a place, the terrace has the most amazing view out to sea. The dining room was fully booked as we only called in on speck. We were able to eat in the bar area. I truly have never had such an amazing meal, I really had to suppress the urge to lick my plate! Fresh fish... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated on the banks of the Fowey River Estuary in the picturesque village of Bodinnick, The Old Ferry is a quintessential Cornish Inn that has been providing accommodation and refreshment for over 400 years. We overlook the Bodinnick to Fowey ferry which can trace its roots back to the 13th Century, and 'Ferryside' the former family home of Daphne du Maurier. The Inn with its relaxed and warm welcome has many traditional features including a wood burner and stone slate floor, and is full of old photographs, nautical bric-a-brac and memorabilia. The perfect place to while away time during the winter months. Our panoramic restaurant gives fantastic river views towards the town of Fowey and the village of Polruan. There are also south facing outside terraces which also have splendid estuary views, and capture the sun all day, a perfect retreat for a summers day. ... more   less
