Upon arrival loads of car parking. The place looks very nice, with flowers all around. But entering the pub the staff couldn't be bothered. We found a table and went to the bar to order drinks. The carpets were outraged and grubby and where we sat was grubby and dirty too. The ladies toilets were broken and in a mess... More

My husband, myself and a friend had been invited to Kynren this year and our friends daughter recommended staying at the Bowes Incline. What a wonderful choice. We shared a family room which was well equipped, had comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom. The restaurant had a fantastic menu to suit all tastes, and the food was excellent. The staff... More

Stayed here for one night in July and thoroughly. enjoyed our stay the location set on the outskirts of Gateshead so you really need transport but that's really the only negative.the hotel was clean the rooms were big enough with a nice bathroom and shower.breakfast included in the price with a fair choice and dinner the night before was excellent... avoid the special meals - £12 for a plate of carrots and a minute piece of meat absolutley discusting they must have a new chef - other food on menus is good but stay away from the special menu as there is very little on the plate

We came on Father's Day without booking a table, and we were very lucky to get seated as we were a large ish group of 6! We were told there would be a wait for the food and we are happy to wait, however they were still advertising Sunday dinners when that wasn't the case (that's just me nit picking)... More

We have recently had an overnight stop at The Bowes Incline, it is probably our 6th or 7th visit. We stay here on our way to northern Northumberland to break the journey, although we have had three nights stays when we wanted to visit the Durham area. It is a really lovely place to stay with very friendly staff and... More

We visited for the first time for a meal to the pub/restaurant and the menu was very extensive, not sure how they can offer all that and keep the food consistent and to a high standard. The starters were tasty although one was large and the other was sparse and could have done with a bit of side salad or... More

Tired of staying in Premier Inns I looked for a change when I visited Chester Le Street recently and came across the Bowes Incline. Advertised as an independent hotel I decided to book. When I called the receptionist was also running the bar and the noise was a big distraction and could be the reason she told me I could... More

Very nice place to stay. Not expensive with excellent breakfast included. Rooms simple but nicely done and free WiFi is a bonus. Excellent restaurant, massive choice of meals at good prices and huge portions. Really friendly and helpful staff. Only thing missing was some proper ales. Would stay again.
