We,d heard the Plough was under new management and decided to give it a try again. Very glad we did. The manageress was a breath of fresh air. Friendly, welcoming and was happy to talk us through the menu options. We decided to give the bar snacks a try which were a fantastic bargain at £6 for 3 choices. Really... More

Lovely local pub. Great service, friendly, good wholesome pub food. Near where we are staying on holiday. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area if looking for a nice pub and wholesome good. Just in Gateshead in the countryside in a little village.

I go there for a drink at time and the staff are brilliant and has a great atmosphere. They are also getting there kitchen done out so there will be good hygiene when they start to surve food. I definitely recommend people to drop by

In February 2015 (8 months in advance) I made a booking for two double rooms at the Plough via Laterooms for one night being 3 October 2015. Given the accommodation pressures in Newcastle on this day (Rugby World Cup game with 55000 visitors) I made the point of reconfirming the booking by phoning The Plough on the 28th of September... Had a 3 night stay to visit Bamburgh/Seahouses/Alnwick/Beamish etc. Staff are all pleasant and helpful, we were supplied with anything we asked for. Rooms do need updating - some colourful bedding would lift the appearance and shower room needs a facelift. That said, it was clean. Food was good at both breakfast and at night - again, a few minor... More

We were in the family room (4),staying for two nights Thursday and Friday.Room was spacious and on first inspection seemed clean and adequate but could do with updating. I then realised there was no wardrobe and no mirror for the dressing table. We were given a mirror at the bar but I can't understand why there isn't one attached to... More

After reading some pretty poor reviews, my partner & I stayed at the plough for a weekend whilst visiting Beamish Museum. My partner had already spoken to Rob to express her concerns. On arriving we were greeted by Yvonne & shown to our room, which was absolutely perfect. The place may be a little dated, but certainly not dirty. All... More

This should be reviewed in 2 ways , one as a pub /restaurant and secondly as a hotel. As a pub its good , good food , good atmosphere ,good beer, friendly staff etc. As a hotel it's a disaster , I stayed because it was convenient and I was by myself if my wife had been there we would... More

Lovely Staff and really friendly locals. the food was a little to be desired, but the beer was good! the room was very scruffy, clutter stuffed in many cupboards - we was woken up horrifically early with the sound of the kitchen extractor fan that was fixed directly to the outside of out room wall a defining Hum that left...
