Lovely hotel, friendly staff, perfect for the price. The room was equipped with everything we needed, clean and warm. The toilets, in the room of which we stayed, were communal which was something we had failed to realise before the visit but these were also clean and well kept. The only downfall to our stay was that we requested a... More

My husband, 11 year old daughter and I spent a relaxing fun week here on summer 'family week'. It was very reasonably priced and breakfast, dinner and single rooms were included, together with all entertainment. As a Christian holiday there was plenty of getting to know new friends and sharing meals. Our daughter loved it as she made her own... More

We had an enjoyable one night stay at the hotel. We have stayed at many hotels but the atmosphere here was as relaxed, friendly and comfortable as we have experienced. It is a Christian hotel but you would never know, however maybe that is why it is so friendly! No, it is not "posh", but it doesn't pretend to be... More

Booked a mini break through booking.com and shelled out £182 for two nights at Abbots Hall. Reviews were broadly positive. The hotel is a traditional building with a coffee shop /reception in the front. We stayed in a room in the main hotel building, it was a good size double, with a large walk in shower /en suite. Downside was... More

This could be a lovely hotel and its position is so pleasant BUT it needs attention to fix a few things...........not sure it is a hotel or more a retreat for the Christian Community. So the hotel needs to decide; for a non religious visitor it was off beam with service etc. It resembles 1960/70; holiday camp with the main... More

Upon ariving and being given keys.. to what i can only describe as an army barrack style building.. that was 60 years out of date. No tv and shared bathroom. Then moved to another part of the main building to a better room and facilities. The doors are locked late at night and very little instruction on how to access... More

Staff were friendly and accommodating. Room basic but clean with en-suite, tv, hairdrier. I only had breakfast which was good and plentiful with a good selection. Grounds were well kept and the hotel is in walking distance of the railway station and a bus service. There is a pool and a children's play area. Well located for travelling around.

I visited here on a Christian retreat. I can only assume that the management thought being on a Christian Retreat we would put up with anything, but this was beyond inexcusable. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should these rooms have been let out to paying guests. I also asked for an ironing board - just LOOK at what they brought to my... More

Our party only stayed one night in the "The Cottage" very comfortable, with all self catering facilities. Being a quick stop over we did not have the chance to use the massive swimming pool. Overall great value including breakfast.

Stayed for 3 nights was not accommodated in the main building but in The Coach House which would have given problems in the event of bad weather. Room cosy and provided with kettle etc,. Downside was chair in room would have been better if a comfy chair was provided. Breakfast was served in Main Building and was good although the... More
