Needed a late booking to visit a relative urgently. Managed a last minute booking at the Cumbria Grand. Price very fair indeed for a standard double with full breakfast. Hotel situated in a delightful spot. Clean and smart appearance inside and out. Plenty of on site parking. Our "classic" room was all we needed for one night. Walls thick -... More

The room was very tired and dirty in parts the towels and bedding were clean and water in bathroom hot. however decor in superior room was very bad. A great deal,of refurbishment is needed. Restaurant ran out of food choice very early but an alternative steak was offered after complaining.

We have stayed here a number of times. We like the history of the place. I'm it is a little tired in places but it is a big place, lots of original features. There is an ongoing refurbishment. It must cost a small fortune to keep up with it. We took our 4 and 3 year old Grandsons with us... More

We stayed at the hotel for 1 night using a Groupon voucher. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We stayed in a superior room which was tastefuly decorated and very comfortable. The food was lovely and well laid out for the carvery meal on the night and breakfast in the morning. We will definately be coming back for another... More

A hotel full of charm and character. The rooms were spotless and all of the friendly and helpful staff are a credit. The breakfast fayre was especially memorable. Ideally situated for touring the Lakes. Could not have asked for a better break in a charming hotel

My parents (both in their 70's) have enjoyed coming here numerous times over the years. Despite having booked a honeymoon in Venice my father really wanted to treat us to a week here and wouldn't take 'no' for an answer! We settled on a stay from Friday to Monday in early August. This may not be the sort of place... More

Good Hotel in traditional style. Friendly, hard working staff. Currently being renovated and we had a premium room that had only ,just been completed. We were a little disappointed that our "premium" room did not include a sea-view. Best to specifically request a sea-view, well worth any extra with fantastic views over Morcombe Sands. Some parts in need of updating,... More

Earlier this month we stopped overnight on a Groupon offer at this hotel. It only cost £75 for the two of us and it was our wedding anniversary. Not sure what to expect for that price, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was pretty standard but the view across the golf course on our veranda was spot on. We were... More

The hotel can never have a 3 star rating. It's very old tired building, the floors creak, expensive, dingy. Carpets are worn out, paint is flaky, service is poor, wifi only available in the lobby. I can't believe places like this actually exist. The reception staff were not very friendly or helpful, seemed disinterested. The kitchen staff were friendly and... More
