Room and en suite clean, beds comfortable, lovely garden. Wi- fi was just about usable in the bedrooms but not always able to get a mobile phone connection ( We have Orange and Virgin) We both have limited mobility so found stairs to the bedroom were quite steep but we were told when we booked there was no lift. .We... We were sad to leave this hotel after our visit - comfortable with interesting pictures and furniture - the bedroom was good though small and had everything we needed and the beds - most important - were very comfortable. The celebration lunch was delicious and beautifully served , breakfast included really good coffee not always the case and delicious bacon.... More

My Mum and I stayed at the hotel with my brother and sister-in-law who were visiting from Australia to celebrate Mum's 90 birthday. The old house is wonderful, full of character, set in lovely grounds with a fabulous garden and location. We were given a rather cursory greeting by the owner who was working with the gardener. It was a... More

Many thanks for your kind comments I do apologize for any misunderstanding I think there was a clash of personalities with your brother - I felt he was so abrupt with me that I found any further conversation was very difficult-I do wish you had told me of any problem with noise in the room and we would have tried... My hubby and I had a meal there for our anniversary as they do a Friday night deal. It was only fish and chips and a pint followed by a dessert, but it was delicious food, pleasant staff, good value and a lovely environment. Did not stay overnight so can't comment on the hotel, just the restaurant.

Stayed here one night as it is on the route for Morecambe bay cycle way. Room was clean and tidy looked like some renovation work was taking place. Up a long drive but surrounded by lovely well kept gardens. Had evening meal which was excellent all home made and very appetising, sat in the bar area after evening meal and... More

We have just returned from a two night break at Hamsfell House and thoroughly enjoyed it together with dog Elly, friendly accommodating hosts, excellent home cooked food with a good choice of menu at sensible prices for lakes, lovely period house with beautiful gardens dotted with patio and seating areas surrounded by woodland its like a little oasis in the... Seven of my family ranging from a 9 to a 92 year old ate here at lunchtime on Father's Day. It was faultless. The menu had plenty of choice; each dish was home cooked and delicious. Despite being very busy the service was also faultless and it was excellent value for money. Being local we have been here a few... More

Took a three day break to Grange with 89 year old mum. Hampsfell House is well located and surrounded by pretty gardens which stole most of the owners attention on our arrival (at least I assume he was the owner as he didn't introduce himself) and the welcome was lukewarm. The stairs to the bedrooms are steep and would represent... More

We are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay am surprised you put up with it for three days with no comment-your bed head by the way backs onto your bathroom. The gentleman in the garden was in fact the gardener whose job discription is gardening so perhaps that is why he was in the garden.Again no comment from you... We live in Grange-over-Sands and frequently eat here, often once a week in the winter months. We just love the melt-in-the-mouth cooking and the friendly atmosphere. One time, when we had booked bedrooms for some relatives and they were unable to come up through illness, we stayed here ourselves, and found it every bit as good as we expected. If... More

We stayed just one night, but wanted to stay longer! We were so impressed with the quiet scenic location, its beautiful gardens and woodland. The room was lovely and we enjoyed sitting in one of the many secluded spots in the garden. We stayed for dinner which we don't often do in hotels, usually venturing into town instead, but so...
