A well run, friendly hotel. The rooms are, warm, comfortable and well equipped. The manager could not have been more helpful and definitely went the extra mile to look after all his guests. Breakfast was excellent. They even made English style porridge to order. It’s in a quiet corner of the town but convenient for the town centre and sight seeing in the cairngorms.

Rodney Brannigan, the Manager was everywhere. Checking in, attending to some maintenance, waiting at meals, bar service and so forth. All done with a helpful cheerfulness. Like many small, seasonal hotels staff costs have to be minimised and to achieve that Rodney filled all the gaps. The room was good sized and of a high standard. The beds were very comfortable. No problem with parking in the hotel car park. The eating facilities were simple and the food was freshly cooked to order but the hotel lacked a little on atmosphere due to out of season low guest numbers. Not a romantic hotel but everything else was very enjoyable.

I stayed here for a week last month with my wife and two sons (7 and 3). The hotel doesn’t usually have rooms with beds for four in one room but my boys were very happy sharing the double sofa bed. The manager/head chef is very helpful and a fantastic cook. It was worth staying here just for the food: quality ingredients done to perfection and in substantial quantities. I had the steak with peppercorn sauce, battered onion rings, mushrooms and chips twice. The breakfasts were great too. The full Scottish had amazing haggis, black pudding and potato cake (alongside the usual bacon and eggs), whilst the delicious ghillie breakfast was a huge salmon fillet with scrambled eggs and spinach in cream. The bar has a decent selection of whiskies too.
