Spent two nights at this hotel whilst visiting sites on the island. I was in a room over the bar which sounded more like a gig night rather than a good night's sleep. to be fair the room was fine and bathroom was good. shame the noise went on rather too late, well after 0100.

The Orkney Hotel is a lovely place. The rooms are small but nice. The building is old but very charming. Staff is friendly and helpfull. The food at the Restaurant is excellent. Located at the heart of Kirwall it is a good spot to start exploring the city and the whole island.

Stayed for 1 night as part of a business trip. Rooms were fine (if a little too hot at night) - comfy bed, great free wifi, nice, hot and powerful shower. A bit dated, but absolutely fine, and clean. We didn't have dinner here, but the breakfast was ok, could've done with a better vegetarian selection at breakfast though as... More

I stayed here for 3 nights whilst in the area for business. The hotel is ideally located in the town of Kirkwall, easy access to local restaurants, bars and shops. Good size room, large closet and an excellent shower. The restaurant had good local selection of food, bar had great wide selection of whiskey, beers and spirits to suit most... More

Enjoyed this lovely hotel in historical Kirkwall. I believe the hotel has its own history as pointed out by reception - grave marker of owner of original house John Richan can be spotted in the St. Magnus cathedral (just up the road from hotel). Comfortable double room with windows overlooking the main street. Good shower and Wifi in room as... More

Checked in at 12 earlier than allowed but wasn't told what time breakfast was served. Returned around 5pm and enquired what time breakfast was served as we are working in area. The reception lady struggled to understand our question and look at us as if we had two heads. Room was average, as the evening went on this is when... More

Whole hotel needs a good clean. Corridors dusty and need hoovered. The bath in our room was filthy - luckily the ancient shower worked OK. Bathroom door would not shut properly which meant the constantly dripping cold tap could be heard in the still of the night.Breakfast was underwhelming - no continental alternative to a pretty tasteless "Orkney breakfast" .... Situated in the centre of Kirkwall, this recently refurbished hotel, is close by all the major attractions. The superior rooms are of a very good size and well provided. Staff were helpful and enthusiastic. Breakfast was provided in the restaurant and was of a good standard.

Overall very happy with my stay, food still as excellent as it was last time I stayed, I was lucky to get parked out front both days so delighted.
