We called for lunch yesterday and ordered two club sandwiches and two pints of Boltmaker. The beer was really good but the chips where tasteless and the sandwiches were not nice either. In fact mine contained a hair! I did mention it to the waiter when we were leaving and my husband told the bar staff when paying the bill.... More

The Dog Inn has it all. Lovely accomodation, great food, ambience but most of all the most engaging staff of any pub we've visited. We walked through the door & three staff members greeted us on the way to the bar to check in. Our waiter for dinner (Max) was excellent as was our Breakfast Manager Loz. Nothing was too... More

A lovely little country pub with a good restaurant and bar. The staff were very helpful, the room bigger than expected and very clean and comfortable (very quiet at night) and not too far from Manchester airport.

The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. Our dinner was lovely and breakfast was delicious served by Warren (?) in front of the open fire. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, even when we discovered that we had left our jackets in the room. They packaged them up and we organised a courier to pick them up tomorrow. Our... More

I am sorry to give this an average rating as The Dog is perfect in so many ways, location, restaurant and friendly staff but the beds are uncomfortable standard doubles - too small for my husband and I to sleep comfortably - even staying a second time in a different room on my own the bed springs literally caught my... The room was adequate for one night, but too small for a longer stay, but it is a country pub, not a large hotel. Beds where too hard. Can't fault the staff, they were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, but I've never had streaky bacon anywhere else, obviously it was fatty and it was quite chewy.

We had heard a lot of good reviews and were looking forward to a night away. Unfortunately the room was poor, dusty and dirty. Shower was very poor. However we were looking forward to the meal. Unfortunately this was poor as well. Indeed the steak was the worst I had eaten. However the atmosphere was good. Breakfast was good and... More

Very nice pub. Ordered shared starter devilled whitebait.Never had this dish before and it was delicious.Very lightly battered with a small side accompaniment of tartare sauce. Main course ordered Waldorf salad.Surprising ingredients as never had Waldorf salad before, which included apple, grapes, walnuts as well as salad leaves and chicken.Overall it was delicious and the combination of ingredients and flavours worked well.... Beautiful day and I and a friend enjoyed a drink on the patio, after a trip to Cheshire and particularly Chester, at the back of the hotel - very pleasant. Did not have the opportunity to eat but it looked fantastic. Definitely a place for a return visit.

The Dog is by far the best pub in Cheshire. I go a few times a month and it is always scrumptious food and atmosphere. You are also able to bring dogs which is an added bonus especially after a long walk on a Sunday. I am not a big fan of roast dinners, but my family are and they... More
