We checked in and were shown our room was big and clean but a little chilly. Went down to the bar for food which was good and large portions. Good breakfast the next morning and again a good sandwich which set us up well for our friends wedding. Friendly atmosphere though depending on when you catch him the owner can... More

Third time I've stopped here whilst en route to Glasgow for work and will be back soon. Although the accommodation may appear to be dated, its quirky, clean and above all the staff are friendly and food excellent. Whenever I'm working in Scotland I'll stopover at The Kings Arms

We visited Lockerbie for the Jazz Festival. We had a warm welcome and easy check-in.It is a traditional hotel with a nice atmosphere, none of the shiney brass and cheap fittings which I dislike. The bedroom was a good size with a modernised bathroom and comfortable bed. We ate in the small.cosy bar and I must say the food was... More

Fine, so the rooms are dated, but it is still comfortable and in a good location in the centre of the town. The food is below average, as is the drink selection. You'll get a warm welcome from the owner though, but this is degraded by the way he speaks to his staff in public. Just a shame the establishment... More

A long journey and feeling stressed, we arrived at The Kings Arms to an exceptionally warm welcome from Wilma, who couldn't do enough to help. It was a busy Saturday evening, but still, checking us in, getting us to our room and organising a table for us to eat was Wilma's number one priority, followed by getting drinks for us,... More

Breakfast and evening meals were fantastic. Plenty of choice and good sized portions and under 12s eat free. The stay was less impressive. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The shower had all the power of a light drizzle, had a nightmare trying to wash my hair. Spent 4 nights there and showered every morning and not once were... More

Visited with family for an evening meal and the warm welcome couldn't have been better. Food was served amazingly quickly and was of a high standard. We all left highly satisfied and would return again.

Positives: You get a good welcome; the rooms are spacious; the golden Labrador is lovely; it is cheap. Negatives: Food is all-round poor (and they don't like being told that); the way the owners speak to the other staff in public is sharp and impolite, and indicates a nervousness about money going over the bar. Looks like a few workers... More
