We had a quiet first floor well furnished double room overlooking the rear private car park. The décor is clean, distinctive and pleasing, with comfortable king sized bed. The bathroom is newly refitted. Staff are friendly and efficient. We dined both nights in the historic timber framed dining room, with its pleasant bar. The excellent food was prepared by the... Had 2 nights here whilst attending a wedding locally. We had a room in the original building. Beautiful large room with modern en-suite bathroom. The room had a wonderfully high ceiling and beautiful sash window. The breakfast was good, and served by very attentive staff. All in all a very pleasant stay in beautiful market town.

We stayed here for 2 nights in July 2016 whilst visiting friends and family in the area. Our room was a good size with comfortable beds and a reasonable amount of storage space. There was plenty of room in the bathroom as well. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, and the staff we encountered friendly and helpful. The car... More

Stayed for one night while attending a local wedding and was very comfortably looked after. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently situated for the town high street without being noisy. Bed was large and comfortable with all we required of an en suite. Cleanliness could not be faulted.

The hotel is in a very good location, just a short walk from the town centre which has numerous pubs and restaurants. Stayed three nights in good sized twin room with spacious bathroom comprising bath with waterfall shower over, wash basin and toilet. Both rooms were clean (bathroom was gleaming). Room was on ground floor overlooking the car park but,... More

Great location, a very short walk to the town centre and the many pubs and eateries. The room was clean and of adequate size. Breakfast was good. The down side was that our ground floor room had an eye level, close up view of the exhaust of a large 4x4 in the car park. Very minimum staff levels, we walked... More

We stayed here for 2 nights - for £230 it was very overpriced compared to our friends staying in the most gorgeous place The Admiral Hornblower 2 mins up the road for £150... you could feel every spring in the mattress which also felt like it had a plastic sheet under the sheet. There was no hot water in the... More

We checked in for one night on our way North. On the plus side, the Hotel is quiet (perhaps too quiet) clean and the breakfast was nice. Plus for B&B is was a good price. Having said that, the Hotel is very dated and is in need of an upgrade. If they are going to stay in business against local... More
