Visited the hope and anchor today for some dinner, menu looked OK, standard pub grub so ordered some food for myself and my partner.. Nachos to start - god awful. Look like they'd just been chucked on a plate and brought out. Chilli and 'cod bites' for mains. The chilli was watery and had no taste, again just chucked on... More

I turned up here having read the reviews about the food with some concern. The venue on the outside looks a perfect location with ample parking, stunning riverside location and good gardens. The adjacent coffee and gift shop provide a good alternative income stream and serve some tasty homemade cakes. The pub however seams to be wanting, the other reviews... More

Oh dear, no wonder this type of pub is closing. Truly great location but it sadly stops their. Service limited, food distributed by a chap with the finesse of a football hooligan, that is , when it eventually arrived. Garden furniture circa 1970, apparently toilets similarly! Suggest give this establishment a miss & eat elsewhere .....still waiting for the tartar... More

Called here yesterday and was very impressed with the setting. The zig zag walk down to the river and pub was beautiful, the flower garden is very pleasant and the garden/seating area in front of the pub inviting. Weather was threatening so we decided to sit just inside. It's an old pub with higgly piggly layout and nothing wrong with... More

We found this picturesque inn while on the trail of the Wye River festival2016. As it was a Sunday and my 3 year old was hungry we stopped at the picture perfect Hope and Anchor Inn which offered home made meals until 8pm. The interior was very rustic - but the beer (stella) was good. the menu seemed slightly over... More

The food was below standard. Wrong meals delivered. The waiter was not at all bothered. Meals delivered at different time so two of the party had already half eaten their meals before other meals arrived. Gents toilets were absolutely disgusting with graffiti on walls, no soap. The tables were dirty and the place was rather shabby. One a plus point... More

Waited 45 mins for food, when it arrived my order was wrong, then took another five minutes to change chips for mash as advertised on the menu! Very average food and had to ask to get table cleaned. Rough round the edges, don't bother eating here.

Popped in for lunch after a tiring morning walk and it looked like a nice place to go, right on the river. Waited for about 45 mins for food to arrive after ordering but shouldn't have bothered waiting as nothing was as it should have been! My brother and dad both ordered the southern fried burger topped with cheese and... More
