Driving home last Sunday, and noticed a pub sign Elephant's Nest Inn. So glad we followed that sign, the pub was full but managed to get the last table. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The food fantastic, the Sunday roast was delicious the beef cooked perfectly. We will definitely come back to this gem of a pub.

Booked a table for two with no problems - very busy evening - advised to order promptly as large group booking - food was excellent - local Sams cider Poundhouse and Autumn - great beer garden. Friendly staff - can't understand comments about grumpy owner!! - will definitely call again. Lovely pub with very pleasant surroundings.

A bit apprehensive when we first saw the Inn from the road as it looked a little tired. Large potholes on the entrance to the carpark were a bit worrying. Need not have worried, rooms very modern, clean and comfortable with lovely views over Dartmoor. Meal booked for 20.00, friendly greeting from bar staff. Although we were early for our... More

Called in for a pint soon after opening on a Friday evening. Fires were roaring and we were warmly greeted. Noticing ‘the’ vegetarian option on the chalkboard was spanakopita we ordered one to share and took our Jail ale and Sam’s scrumpy through to an adjacent room which again had a good fire going. The walls were painted yellow and... More

Spent two nights at this quiet establishment on the edge of Dartmoor. Bedroom was very comfortable and the food of a high quality. The breakfast was particularly good. I am a Coeliac so need a gluten free diet. This was catered for without fuss. We found our hosts very amiable.

We had read some reviews that put us off, relating to the lack of welcome and a not so friendly dog in the bar..... But we decided to go anyway, and are very glad that we did. A very warm welcome matched the warmth of the log fire. A great choice of dishes made it hard to choose. But the... More

Helpful, pleasant staff, but what a miserable man the owner is. A smile costs nothing. The food was very good, although a few peas with the expensive fish & chips would have been welcome. The service was slow, but didn't matter as we were in no rush. However, don't go if you are in a hurry.

A lovely pet friendly inn located in a superb spot to access the Moor. Lovely atmosphere roaring fire to warm yourself after a long hike. Importantly the food is perfection. Room is comfortable, clean meets every need with a fab on suite

We visit the Ele's every time we're back in the UK. Great, great, great pint, and good food. Remote but worth the trek. The owner is a grump, but fortunately keeps himself confined to his mates at the bar. the rest of the staff, and the pub dog, are great!

You would have to know where to go to find this delightful 16th century pub. Very enjoyable meal at reasonable prices, very friendly staff and excellent service. Very pleased that I ordered my sirloin steak 'blue' as it was actually served rare but that is fine as very few chefs these days seem to want to serve blue steaks! -... More
