Very nice as usual and pleasant staff, food as excellent. Bit disappointed that they haven't changed the menu in years, they need a little more variety and sticky toffee pudding needs to be put back on the desert menu! Also surprised to see they don't have to their bowl of mint imperials out! They used to have foxes mints years...

Thank you for your kind comments, I am delighted you enjoyed your evening meal and that you were well looked after. We do change seasonal dishes on our brasserie menu every 4 months but always keep the British favorites such as pie of the day and fish and chips as they are so popular. I have put in a request...

My partner and I stayed one night at the Bedford in one of the premier rooms (#23) to celebrate our engagement. The room was specifically advertised as having a jacuzzi bath big enough for two but this was FAR from the truth. I'm a size 14 and partner is a 32" waist so we're pretty average but the bath was...

Thank you for your honest review. I am sorry you have not experienced value for money during your stay. Your feedback will be used to help make informed decisions on where improvements are needed. Our 'four poster rooms' at the Bedford all have standard sized Jacuzzi baths but they are for one person not two. Our 'Premier Rooms' at our...

The hotel is very centrally located in the town. The service was really good as was the food. What I appreciated more than anything was that the hot breakfast was cooked to order rather than being laid out buffet style. So it was really fresh and hot.

I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay and in particular the freshly cooked to order breakfast. We also serve breakfast to non-residents so if you are ever visiting Tavistock for the day you know where to come first! We hope you return soon. Warm wishes, Leanne

We did not book but dropped for dinner in having attended an event in the town. We were surprisingly found a table. I ordered venison wellington and my companions choose the lamb burger. My 'wellington' appeared as a thin (1 cm) slice of sausage roll - the filling being some dark dry inedible meat. It was thankfully supplemented by some...

For £12.95 a full afternoon tea at The Bedford is pretty good value. Nicely presented on a slate tiered cake stand; a selection of crustless rectangular sandwiches, peashoots and strips of vegetable crisps. On the tier above; coffee and walnut cake, rocky road and squares of chocolate brownie. And topping the stand, large scones. Strangely, these scones left a slightly...

The good: Nice looking hotel, with decent public areas Good sized car park Room service with good quality food Free wifi, fast enough to stream Friendly staff The bad: Poor noise proofing, creaky floors and I was kept awake until 0100 or so by neighbours TV Breakfast does not start until 0730,...

We popped in for a cream tea and it was very good, proper clotted cream, lovely jam, fresh scone and good quality tea. The atmosphere in the area we sat was good and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being in large old fashion type room.

We all had various types of open sandwiches. The Chicken sandwich consisted of a slice of brown bread with Chutney spread on it, then small pieces of sliced chicken placed on the top. On the side was a type of Cole slaw, a few leaves of salad and Parsnip strips in a pot. £7.25 each The Bedford Club sandwich had...

We visited the Bedford for a long weekend to celebrate a birthday. The hotel is a beautiful old building in the heart of Tavistock and has its own car park at the rear with a useful entrance to the hotel. Upon arrival we noticed the electric car charge point was not available due to some building work(we had pre booked...
