£160-00 per night ( double room ). Rooms OK ( nothing special ) Breakfast poor. one hour slot for breakfast. Full English had certainly been cooked some time before we arrived. Heaven knows what tourists must think of our service.

The George Hotel was quite good and tried hard, but I found the foreign accents of the staff difficult to understand at times. It looks like an old Coaching Inn and probably had a lot of history. It has a lovely courtyard area with comfortable seating and umbrellas so that you can take your drinks from the bar and enjoy... More

Pre-booked at £130 for a night we thought that the place was well overpriced. The double room was quite small and tired. The bathroom was old and there was a lack of attention to detail. E.g. No shower gel in the holder. (awkward when you are in the shower only to find that there isn't any gel). One light bulb... More

Whilst on a 'business' trip in the area, several of us were accommodated at The George at Wallingford and I was well pleased with the hotel. Although the hotel is in the centre of the town, parking was more than adequate at the rear of the premises and most of the rooms appeared to be away from the main road... More

We went to the George for a bar meal in the Bistro. We ordered our food and waited and waited. When it came after 40 minutes, my husbands fish and chips was burnt almost black. My beef burger was burnt and dry and crumbly. My husband sent his back and the second lot when it came was not much better.... More

Had a fab stay here whilst visiting Wallingford Blues & Beer Festival. Wallingford is a great place to be in June. Everything spot on and a delightful manageress, Sarah, who I was able to thank personally.

Staff was so helpful. Beds are comfortable. 24 hours hot water, clean sheets everyday, lovely historical atmosphere. Also their pub is quite good and inside the hotel. You don't need to go out to drink. The hotel is in front of an old castle garden which is beautiful. 1 min walking distance to the market square. (town hall) Great stay.... More

The George has masses of character and could be lovely. Rooms are pot luck some are refurbished and slightly better especially those in the New part of the Hotel. Las time I stayed I had a huge case and had to walk across the courtyard up three flights of steep stairs and through stiff swing doors with no lift available... More

Its been over a year since my last stay here. Property undergoing much needed renovations but the result is worth it. Room was nicely done, not large by north american standard but its big enough. As usually the staff are still very friendly and helpful. No issues with wifi. The included breakfast had options for omelets, full english, or continental... More

With its history and the fabric of the building it could be quite lovely. It's not it could best be described as pretty average. With small very standard "motel" rooms, we felt it was very overpriced. It's saving grace is a lovely old fashioned bar.
