The walking group I belong to decided to visit the Village House pub after one of our walks recently and were made to feel very welcome - sadly some pubs in this area either don't like walkers or big crowds suddenly turning up for lunch!! Thankfully neither was true of this one and we were met with friendly smiles and... More

My mum & I stayed here on a Sunday as we had to go to the crematorium on the Monday. When we arrived in Findon, we found this charming establishment & were happy we'd booked. The car park is small & next to an Indian restaurant. We checked in & reserved a table for dinner. The room was rustic, &... More

Don't get here too late for the Sunday lunch,we arrived at 1.30 and were lucky to get a place.Food is served all day,but the kitchen gets busy. The young waitresses that served us were polite and professional and our Sunday roast was delicious and plenty of it.There are beautiful walks around here and it's very popular with ramblers. The pub could do... Good little, village pub. Friendly and helpful staff, but upstairs is a bit of a rabbit warren in need of renovation. Our room was a little small, but clean and comfortable. We arrived on a Friday evening, so the small carpark was full. However we managed to park in the street only 50 metres or so away, so not an... More

We stayed for just one night so we could attend a funeral at the nearby crematorium. The pub is right in the middle of the small village. We managed to find a space in the car park, but there would have been room in the surrounding roads. This is a very quiet area. Our room was upstairs, through a maze... More

This pub simply has a great atmosphere, lovely food reasonably priced. Landlord has time to share interesting stories, staff are polite, beer is excellent, dog friendly. Everything a pub should be. I wasn't kidding about the atmosphere, it really is good here. Thank you.

Stayed in room 2. The Pub/Hotel is centrally located in the village and has limited parking, it shares the small carpark with Tadjar Restaurant. I was lucky to grab a space to, the very kind owner moved his car so I could park. The room was clean and reasonably sized with an en-suite. The room looked as though it had... More

Locals and lodgers alike have found the Village house to be convivial, jovial, and quite good value for money. Haven't had a meal here, so can only talk about the pub side. There is a lovely beer garden when the weather is agreeable, friendly staff and a very good selection of ales. Thanks to owners and staff for a lovely... More

Busy pub in the centre of Findon Village. I had 3 scraps (instead of a whole piece of cod) on my order for fish and chips at £11.00+ not impressed. The other meals were OK so I let it pass. When we asked for the bill the waitress was tetchy probaly due to being overworked so the tip of £10... More

A nice pub with separate restaurant. Bar meals can be consumed in the bar too as there are quite a few tables. Food good. Bar is quite a large room so not cosy. No quiet cosy corners! Well behaved dogs made welcome!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Village House Coaching Inn is nestled in the newly formed South Downs National Park, at the heart of the picturesque downland village of Findon, near Worthing and was first mentioned by name in the 'Findon Chronicles' in 1527 when it became the property of a Mr Thomas Beret. Since then the building has seen many changes of use and has been a private house as well as a convalescent home for the well heeled of London (no change there then). In the 1930s the Village House became a guest house and tea room - a recently found advertisement dating from this time boasted of... en pension terms of 2 ½ guineas to 4 guineas per week-according to room and season... and... rooms with such modern conveniences as electric light. Today our rooms still retain their old world charm and atmosphere, but we try to offer a little more luxury than in the 1930s. If you love walking, we are ideally located for both the South Downs and Monarchs Way, which both offer fantastic views across the south downs and Sussex coast. If golf is your passion there are two challenging golf courses nearby, or if it's horse racing, then Fontwell and Goodwood racecourses are within easy distance. Findon is also the home of the Gifford Racing Stables who produced the famous Grand National winner, Aldaniti. ... more   less
