A nice pub with separate restaurant. Bar meals can be consumed in the bar too as there are quite a few tables. Food good. Bar is quite a large room so not cosy. No quiet cosy corners! Well behaved dogs made welcome!

Such helpful people. We were stranded In Findon with no mobile signal when a family member was rushed into intensive care. They allowed us to come and sit in the pub before official opening , let us use their landline several times and gave us very helpful advice, showing genuine concern for us and our situation. A lovely village pub... More

We had lunch here today, It was one of the best meals I have eaten in a long time. We have not been to the village house for a while,I had forgotten had good the food is, we always have the homemade fish and chips, which are out of this world, But today I had the crab bisque it came... More

I stayed here for a night after an evening out locally and was very taken with the place. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are friendly and the breakfast was very good indeed, and included in the room price. All in all, a very pleasant stay and I would certainly stay again.

Popped in last night with a friend, fancying a quick pint and a main course. I chose the whole local mackerel, chips and side salad. It was simple, but truly delicious. The mackerel was fresh, succulent and very tasty. The chips and salad were good, too. It's easy not to bother reviewing a snack meal such as this, but I... More

I agree with the majority of reviews here. People were friendly, nice atmosphere and an extremely good breakfast. Good location. However my room (room 5) left a bit to be desired. I normally just want a comfortable bed, tv and a decent shower in the morning when I stay away from home. You could feel the springs in the bed,... More

I needed an overnight stay close to Lancing and am very pleased I picked the Village House. As soon as I walked in through the main bar I got the atmosphere of 'warmly welcoming village pub' and the rest of my stay lived up to that. My single room was small but comfortable with a view over the pub garden.... More

We stayed as an overnighter following a concert in Worthing. Dubious when we arrived but that was soon quashed when we went inside. Welcoming staff, great food, lovely room with four poster bed, wonderful night's sleep all followed by a lovely breakfast. Don't be put off by the shabby chic of the public areas, after all it was built in... More

It's in Findon. Went for a drink, few people eating, food looks good. More of a pub than a restaurant, with large open areas and great for kids. Beer and wine great, locals are friendly. Could you do something about the crisps (you may sell more). Asked what they had and I quote the reply 'We have the usual three... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Village House Coaching Inn is nestled in the newly formed South Downs National Park, at the heart of the picturesque downland village of Findon, near Worthing and was first mentioned by name in the 'Findon Chronicles' in 1527 when it became the property of a Mr Thomas Beret. Since then the building has seen many changes of use and has been a private house as well as a convalescent home for the well heeled of London (no change there then). In the 1930s the Village House became a guest house and tea room - a recently found advertisement dating from this time boasted of... en pension terms of 2 ½ guineas to 4 guineas per week-according to room and season... and... rooms with such modern conveniences as electric light. Today our rooms still retain their old world charm and atmosphere, but we try to offer a little more luxury than in the 1930s. If you love walking, we are ideally located for both the South Downs and Monarchs Way, which both offer fantastic views across the south downs and Sussex coast. If golf is your passion there are two challenging golf courses nearby, or if it's horse racing, then Fontwell and Goodwood racecourses are within easy distance. Findon is also the home of the Gifford Racing Stables who produced the famous Grand National winner, Aldaniti. ... more   less
