This is the second time we have been here for lunch and the food was as good as before.Service was a little slow but the food made up for it.Both of us had mixed grills and they were well cooked and a decent portion size. The beer was cheaper than a lot of pubs in Banbury which was a surprise.Would definitely... About 5 years ago we first stayed at the Cromwell as a walk in booking and was given a twin room this was rather tired but comfortable, 2 years later we again stayed as a walk in booking and received the same room which was just as we left it 2 years previously but even more tired! This year we... More

Spent a couple of days here and the staff made the stay an enjoyable, relaxing and pleasant experience in which we can't wait to return too. The hotel and bar seemed very quite during our stay but a road being closed directly outside the hotel seemed to of been the reason for this. Adam checked us in and he was... More

Stayed at hotel for one night on Friday 19th August. Nice old building Staff were pleasant and welcoming. Room was a double with shower. Bed was comfortable and shower was hot and powerful. Décor in room was a bit tired, but apart from that room was fine. I had breakfast the following morning. This was nice and set me up... More

We booked an overnight stay at the Cromwell Lodge as we needed a dog-friendly hotel in Banbury where we were attending a music event. Our initial impressions were good. The exterior of the hotel is attractive, parking was easy and the garden looked attractive. The receptionist, Jade, explained politely that the maintenance team were in the room (26) investigating a... More

This place is not that good the location near the centre of Banbury is good and free on site parking are its best features. We booked and paid for a superior room and ended up with room 23 an attic room which was difficult to get to stuffy and with the sloping eaves of the roof reduced the amount of... More

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately as well as being located close to the local amenities which is ideal in the daytime it does mean we are also central for the night life of Banbury. We do hope you return in the future More

I think the review title sums it up quite nicely... We stayed overnight (1 night) following on from a wedding. We were in room 20, right at the top of the hotel and the room was 'interesting'... By which I mean you might get seasick walking around it because the floor was *very* uneven. In fact if my wife stood... More

Stayed 2 nights. It was the cheapest we could find at short notice. The hotel is need of a makeover without spoiling character. We ate in dinning room first night. It was just okay. However, the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room was spacious and near garden. Breakfast was fine standard was okay but nothing exceptional. We did enjoy our... More

Very very tired hotel. When we arrived we were told that we had been booked into a room with no windows but as we were staying for more than one night they found us another room. Damp and yucky smells all over the place. Staff were pleasant and helpful but we were told, along with other couples, that breakfast was... More

Once again all the charm and character of an Old English Inn. Most Helpful staff when checking in and nothing to much trouble. Free carpark which is always a plus. The breakfast bar was well stocked with fruit, pastries, yoghourt and juice's. The cooked breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Another great stay at an Old English Inn.
