From our arrival until the time of our departure, Poppy warmly welcomed us and received us in a delicate manner, taking care to enhance our stay with the unmissable visits in the surrounding area.
The house in the traditional English style is a true haven of peace.
We occupied a very pleasant space with all the necessary comfort, an independent living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Very pleasant bedding and linen.
Poppy is a remarkable cook! She adapts to the wishes of her guests and treats us to ultra-fresh products (a farm, an orchard, a vegetable garden, fruit trees, etc.)
Don’t hesitate and go to Poppy’s!!

If you want to experience real British country house life, this is the place for you. Welcomed by a huge blooming camellia and a very special landlady. A tour of the magnificent garden, the finest tea from a silver pot in the classic salon and an exquisite welcome dinner all contribute to making you feel at home quickly. Your food preferences and needs were asked about in advance and sensitively taken into account. The fact that Poppy is a truly brilliant cook who conjures up a first-class menu with fresh ingredients ensures perfect enjoyment. At the same time, she is the perfect hostess who always takes the time to chat. If you are interested, you will get to know a very extraordinary woman with a special life story. She also always has helpful tips on what to see and do - tailored to your individual preferences. Her recommendations are worth their weight in gold, and if you reserve a table with her in mind, you can be sure that you will be seated and served very well - she is known everywhere.
The evening before, personal wishes for a real "cooked breakfast" are clarified; freshly squeezed orange juice and homemade jams and marmalades are a given. The night's sleep is truly heavenly, as there are no noises inside the house or from outside. However, you have to be prepared to accept English peculiarities - the classic windows are not so easy to open, the duvet has to be shared as a couple (the mattresses are excellent, though). It's a classic country house, but with all the necessary comforts and impeccably maintained. There is a lot to see and experience in the area, even after 6 days we were still far from exhausting all the possibilities.
All in all - highly recommended!

We received a wonderful welcome with tea and home made cake in Poppy’s beautifully furnished drawing room. We had elected to dine at the house, highly recommended, and during tea we discussed the menu.

Our room was designed with maximum comfort and adjoined a luxurious, well appointed bathroom. As with the rest of the house, the bedroom featured fine period furniture and classical soft furnishings. Stunning views from every window, a comfortable bed with fine cotton bed linen and generously sized towels, added to our comfort.

We very much enjoyed dining with our hosts, but this is your choice. Poppy is an excellent cook and conversation flowed. The selection of well priced wine helped to make this a delightful evening.

Breakfast was equally well prepared with the greatest selection of home made jams that we have ever seen!

The house overlooks a pretty garden and is surrounded by ancient trees. It is well placed to enjoy all that this area has to offer. Thank you Poppy and Graham.

Our 7th return visit where we stay for the Silverstone Grand Prix.
Wonderful landlady (Lady Poppy Cooksey and her delightful husband Graham), beautiful house, beautiful gardens and near enough to Silverstone's park and ride facilities. Lady Cooksey and Graham prepare all the food which is excellent, have srinks with us and other guests in the drawing room, eat with us on Thursday night when we arrive, and we are treated to a good cooked breakfast every morning. Lady Cooksey and Graham are very kind in that they will prepare breakfast for 07:00 on the Friday to Sunday, allowing us time to leave by 07:30-45 and get to the circuit in good time

From the website, our expectation was of a boutique B and B but what we experienced was, in some ways, better than this. We felt that we were staying as invited guests in a very comfortable and characterful family home. Poppy is the perfect hostess. She and Graham have every aspect of the service they offer running very smoothly and efficiently. Every need has been anticipated and individual tastes are well catered for. On our first evening, we wanted to entertain two close friends and Poppy obliged by personally tailoring a delicious four course dinner with champagne and wine for the needs of our party. Breakfast was also beautifully prepared and nicely presented. Poppy obviously loves entertaining people and is a fascinating and gregarious hostess. Graham is quietly practical in the background, keeping the wheels well oiled and the house perfectly maintained. Together, they are a great team. We hope to return for another stay soon.

For our little getaway in the Cotswolds we found a bed and breakfast entirely in the style of the surrounding landscape with its typically English romantic villages: "Uplands House" near Banbury (north of Oxford). The owner Poppy, Lady Cooksey, is a charming hostess who provides the gourmet evening meals herself; his favorite wine comes from Puglia and it is excellent. From our room, decorated with great taste, we could admire its magnificent garden and of course the English countryside. Truly an address to revisit.

My young son and I recently stayed at Uplands House as my son was taking part in kart racing event at nearby Shenington, which Uplands House is ideally situated for (5 minute drive to the circuit).

When we take part in races around the country, often the only options available to us are the sort of soulless national hotel chains that you see, so I was relieved to stumble upon Uplands House on Trip Advisor and immediately impressed by the countless 5 star reviews - I have to say they are well justified.

We had a delightful stay at Uplands House; Poppy and Graham were fantastic hosts making us feel very welcome and at home from the minute we arrived. The food and wine was exceptional and we very much enjoyed the conversation with Poppy and Graham and fellow guests before and during dinner.

We have another race coming up at Shenington in November and I have to say that the part of the weekend that I’m most looking forward to is our repeat stay at Uplands House!

We had the most wonderful three days at Uplands House. Poppy was a wonderful and kind hostess from the minute that we arrived. We had a warm welcome into Poppy's beautiful home. We were greeted with tea and cake in the lounge where we discussed our dinner requirements. We had a beautiful room with a four poster bed and Uplands was so quiet and very relaxing. We had the most enjoying and delicious dinner with Poppy, where we enjoyed a fabulous fig, feta and tomato starter, seabass, ratatouille and potato dauphinoise finished off with apple crumble and homemade ice cream. We enjoyed hearing about Poppy's interesting life and she was full of wisdom and an attentive listener. She was a really great hostess. Poppy is great with local recommendations and places to visit and eat. We enjoyed a filling and hearty breakfast both days and particularly enjoyed Poppy's homemade jams and tour of her garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we are looking forward to returning soon.

We stayed at Uplands due to its perfect location near NTUpton house as part of my husbands birthday treat . We were not disappointed . It is unique and homely . Poppy is the perfect hostess & sitting as you found a family around a big table at meal times enables you to enjoy the other guests company & make new friends . The food is excellent . Loved the pre dinner drinks . Along with cake & tea on arrival whilst discussing the evening menu.

Poppy & Graham make you feel very welcome .

The house and gardens are lovely & we thoroughly enjoyed our stay .

Staying in Wolsey Lodges is always a special treat providing lasting memories, and our visit to Uplands House was no exception.
Poppy, Lady Cooksey, welcomed us to her beautiful house and showed us around the garden before we drank tea and ate home-made cake in the elegant drawing room. The house was filled with fragrant flowers from the garden and nothing had been omitted to ensure our comfort and pleasure.
As for dinner! It was faultless and couldn't be bettered by any famous chef in an expensive restaurant. Poppy ate with us and told us about her fascinating life.
A hearty breakfast, which included home made jams and marmalades, fruit from the garden and freshly squeezed orange juice, completed this perfect experience.
