Stayed for one night walking in the area. Welcoming, clean and relaxed. Bill gave us a warm welcome and the lady serving breakfast was very friendly. Close to the centre with on street parking. Our room wasn't en-suite. It was pretty basic but for us (2 lads on a walking/pub outing) it was perfectly fine and for a room that...

Selected Compton Guest House from several on internet on the Saturday night, rang them Sunday morning and drove up Sunday afternoon. A lovely ,cosy and welcoming place. Room was warm, bed comfy, and the breakfast was first class. We were made very welcome and given plenty of advice on walks in the area that weren't too difficult. As we love...

Managed to obtain a last minute booking thanks to their well placed advertising sign in the town. Lovely people running the establishment. Very keen to help guests. Room was very nice, breakfasts were excellent. All in all a good place to stay in Buxton. Thank you.

In the centre of Ashbourne within very easy walk of restaurants and pubs it also benefits from off street parking. Rooms were clean and had all we needed including free tea/coffee. We received a warm welcome and good breakfasts; what more could you want. Our room was right on the relatively busy road and this was no problem in October...

The owners went out of their way to make me feel very welcome. I was hiking the next day, and the lady proprietor kindly gave me a lift to the start of my walk- this is literally going the extra mile! Room was comfortable (though mine was not en-suite), and owners will accommodate with breakfast menu. Location is in Higher...

Stayed for one night only(Saturday) The guest house is in a really good location close to all the local pubs and restaurants. The town centre offers a variety of high street stores. There is a lovely park and indoor market. The bars were lively with good bands on. There were also quieter bars. The bedroom was a bit old fashioned...

Stayed here on my work travels for a couple of nights and found the place really comfortable. The stay was all the more enjoyable as the place had been refurbished since my last visit and that's what has compelled me to sing its praises. the good selection of breakfast options were also very good. Great place to stay.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Compton house Is an original Victorian Guest house in Buxton Derbyshire the centre of the peak district with all its original features (open fire places in most rooms / high ceilings and retro decor) We are a family run business that is trying to create a warm homely feeling on a warmly low price, with a well-cooked English breakfast and can provide a evening meal or pack up if requested. We are in the heart of Buxton market town with close walking distance to all the main attractions (Opera house / Town centre shops / spa baths / parks / pavilion gardens / market place) and then a short drive or cycle to the following (Goyt valley nation park / Bakewell / Chatsworth / Haddon Hall / Pools Cavern). We have a large south facing patio area where you can sit and relax with tea and biscuits or wine and beer. There is a safe indoor lock up for bicycles or any other equipment and plenty of parking. Buxton has its own train service that runs straight into the heart of Manchester and the station is walking distance from the guest house. We can rent you bikes for a small cost so you can get that bit further than walking and provide free maps. We welcome your visit and will do are best to make you feel at home. ... more   less
