We survived the night - a run-down place - and the management recognizes this as they have the plans for the new building prominently displayed. My daughter found it creepy and everything was not only in a deplorable state but the place was also dirty and dusty. The location is not very good and overall the stay was depressing.

The decorations in the hotel had a cinema theme to the hotel (my room had plenty of pictures of Jane Seymour). My room was furnished in a quite old style (not my taste personnaly) but most importantly itad its wallpaper coming off the wall. There was a telly (not flatscreen) and it had a Freeview box to watch a few... More

We booked this hotel for a one night stay and we were so comfortable it was a shame we were not staying longer. We had room 1 on the first floor which was a lovely big room with a flat screen television, plenty of tea and coffee and a huge bathroom. The beds where extremely comfortable and everything was so... Claim to be a Hotel, but found out that they do not do any food including breakfast of any kind( Not informed of this till I arrived) The whole place is bit odd and run down. Clearly no investment going on, avoid if you can.

You get what you pay for, and the price was very reasonable for Buxton. The location was great and our room was very spacious, with a huge bathroom. Unfortunately our room was located of the top of the hotel and there is no lift. the room could have been cleaner and all the pictures of Hollywood actors covering all the... More

Oh dear not so good! We were on the top floor in the eaves which can seem a bit claustrophobic when there's four of you. We had the Winona Ryder room...6 photos of the actress through her career...relevance please...at least we weren't in the Jack Nicholson room as the man with his 2 year had to go to bed with... I'm here because I left it late to book a room for a trade event. Apart from some flop houses I ended up in on stag weekends, this is easily the most low rent place I've kipped in on a business trip. Very dated, worn furnishings with a musty smell, walls quiet enough to hear your neighbours' flatulence and not... More

Before I start I can't really disagree with all the derogatory comments, however, as the hotel has plans in to completely overhaul it is futile commenting on the negatives. The positives for us were that it was cheap and perfect for us with a dog. Room was very reasonable with clean sheets, good shower, plenty of toiletries and coffee/tea which... More

As many other reviewers have said, this hotel is a little tired and rather quirky. This was a last minute booking, chosen because there was a room available and it cost under £100. I'm loathed to say 'cheap' or 'budget' for a room costing £67 for the night. The front entrance has a picture of Basil Faulty with differing room... More
