Where do i start- pulled up to broken glass and general shabby exterior- tatty garden furniture and unkempt garden. Paint flaking and as you enter the unmistakable smell if dog urine which has penetrated carpets and cleaned to no avail. The room..... Filthy- dust on everything, ive seen a cleaner kettle in a builders yard!, gross telephone handset, the hair... More

We stayed in rooms 12 & 16 at the hotel as there were 5 of us. Funny smell upon entering hotel, like an old musty smell. Room 12 was slightly shabby but very clean. The bathroom was very old and tired. Room 16 looked like an old ladies bedroom, old floral patterns and didn't smell very nice. Again it was... More

Visited here yesterday, for a family night away from everything. We were a little disappointed. Quite dated, smelt as you went in, not an inviting smell! Bar lady was friendly. Receptionist was OK, we asked for our curtain to be hung back up, as it was down when we went into room, the reply was 'well I checked it', to... More

This is a dirty, smelly grubby and very tired hotel. Never seen so much mould in a bathroom and on a showe head - total health hazard! Blood stains on the bedding, damp/water stains on the curtains, wallpaper peeling off, dirty windows....the smell was shocking (in the hotel in general). They serve no food whatsoever either. Not as though I... More

This hotel is basic but the location more than makes up for the negatives. It is dated and does not offer breakfast. The decor and bathrooms are in great need of renovation. There was no lift available and my 93 year old father struggled with the stairs but we arranged things so that he would only have to tackle them... More

this hotel is planning to rebuild so is not investing in its current building so it looks shabby on the outside. If you can cope with that and want a clean, comfortable bed for the night then is is a very good choice. We had a large, quiet room on a Friday night. The location is perfect and there are... More

Very old hotel. The room was very smelly, the carpet was dirty, the bed sheets broken with stains. The bathroom was terrific. No welcoming by the receptionist, when we left there was a sign on the table to leave the key there. I would not recommend to go there.

About the only saving grace this old house can have is its central location to Buxton. Just a short walk through the park and you're in town. Considering the price, this was definitely not a budget hotel, I've seen places do it this cheap and still get it right. The hotel definitely has old world charm about it, even the... More

Last stayed about 5 years ago. It has gone downhill considerably and is waiting to be demolished hence is receiving zero or minimal maintenance. The lift is out of order. The ice machine was switched off. There is a musty smell everywhere. There is no breakfast, and you are directed to the Paviion Gardens cafe at 08:00 although she didn't... More

We survived the night - a run-down place - and the management recognizes this as they have the plans for the new building prominently displayed. My daughter found it creepy and everything was not only in a deplorable state but the place was also dirty and dusty. The location is not very good and overall the stay was depressing.
