Stayed here with my daughter 12 and nephew 7 thinking I was coming to a spa. It does have fitness facilities but they are in need of a revamp and wouldn't call it a spa in any sense. The room was fine and the hotel is in a good location. The food at this hotel was awful! I was told...

After reading some of the reviews we arrived at The Palace Hotel with a feeling of trepidation, with but as soon as we walked in that was dispelled, the staff were pleasant and very helpful, and the hotel is beautiful we would go as far and say it is opulent. Our room (201) was large as was the bathroom and...

The four of us aged between 50-68 had booked single rooms for our Saturday night stay. On arrival the reception was busy but very friendly staff dealt with us quickly and efficiently. I'll overview for the four of us as we all had the same opinions. The frontage and entrance to the hotel is nothing short of spectacular, we should...

Got a very good deal for 2 nights in January. The hotel is good quality, staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room was on the small side with a small bathroom but was clean and warm. Had a large TV, 2 armchairs, small table, tea and coffee tray. The deal included breakfast and evening meal which were both self...

It's an impressive and imposing building looking over the the beautiful spa town of Buxton. Long queue at check in time was soon alleviated by additional staff who were professional and polite throughout. We were lucky enough to be allocated an obviously recently refurbished ground floor double which was spacious, clean and warm. The huge bathroom surprisingly lacked a heated...

Absolutely appalling service from this hotel. Arrived and the car park was a death trap, my car was sliding all over and the Traction Control light was going crazy. Then find there's absolutely nowhere to park, the hotel made us double park behind someone and then had to pay £4.50 for the privilege! When we checked in they didn't offer...

I went to Buxton with my friend to see what the town had to offer so I decided to book the Palace Hotel, close to the town centre. The hotel itself is very picturesque with wonderful landscape and a great view of Buxton from high up. Unfortunately, the service is not up to scratch at all. I went out for...

We have stayed many times before, and always had a good experience, but even we were wondering if the hotel had gone downhill after reading bad reviews. Our genuine conclusion is that yes, there have been changes, but they were probably very necessary; and has it gone downhill? NO - we got the impression the new owners really mean business,with...

I was worried as booked before had time to read reviews. I was travelling from Scotland and Buxton was half-way point. The hotel has beautiful architectural features. The main stair-case is amazing. Unlike other reviews I found the staff helpful and friendly. In particular Lee in the bar. My friend and I wanted a light vegetarian supper and were given...

I concur with many other reviewers that this place was once very splendid. We enjoyed our stay here but the building is in a little need of renovation and decoration. Breakfast was very good and the room was comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Stay here if you want a reasonable price but can cope with dated pattered carpets!
