A large number of family were staying here for a family wedding. My room (top level) was booked 6months prior, although i knew nothing at all about the building work until i read the reviews in Late July. It seemed that it had recently been taken over (others had been told about work but not me). Internal work was completed... More

look no further but beware this hotel is tired and needs a good refurbishment. Our twin room was dark even with the small window wide open. The view of the 11 century Motte and Bailey opposite was spoiled by the scaffold on the hotel (external repairs to the stonework). Our single beds were so narrow every time we turned over... More

Stayed here for one night in early August 2016 in preparation for spending a day at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in nearby Abergavenny. Hah is a fabulous place and "The Swan" was idyllic. The room (a superior double) was entirely adequate and although a little small, had all that could be expected. Dinner - taken in the restaurant was... More

We got a bargain deal at the Swan as they are refurbishing the hotel. As the work was being done on the exterior it did not trouble us.The room was dated but clean and well equipped. Even though we arrived a day early we were accommodated with no moans or groans. The hard working manager served us breakfast and lunch ate night... More

This hotel was great for us as we were walking the Offa's Dyke national trail. It is very conveniently located in the centre of Hay on Wye, close to lots of pubs and restaurants. We really liked this hotel and it was a great base for us to explore Hay on Wye. The staff are all very friendly and helpful... More

As a couple we stayed here 21st July. We were given a room at the front of the hotel, sold as a double room but there was barely enough room for two, the bed was small and the room was cramped. The carpet was badly stained, the wallpaper was ripped, the 'en-suite' was a cupboard with no room even for... More

I stayed at the hotel on a wowcher deal and after reading the very varied reviews on this site I was wondering if I had made a big mistake !. The answer... No I didn't. Yes the hotel is going through renovations and there is scaffolding up at the hotel and a skip in the car park. This didn't bother... More

Very tired rooms, mediocre breakfast, pitiful wi-fi coverage and not very clean. Renovation work is being carried out externally, they also need to do the same internally. There was hardly anyone else staying, yet I was given a room that was not easy to get to. No offer of assistance with baggage. I had expected better, quite a lot better.

We stayed here with a Wowcher deal and found it good value and a very pleasant visit. I've read a few of the other reviews to see what other people think. So the hotel is going through refurbishment at the moment and yes, the decor is dated and long overdue for a change. But saying that, the staff were very... More

Went there with a couple of friends, was a lovely place ! Nice staff, nice food, good prices and not too full on! As I live near hay, I don't go there on a regular basis but when I do, its very good. For people who don't live around this area, its not hard to find either!
