This was the cheapest hotel near Dover I could find when I needed to cut a cross-Channel trip in half. In some ways it lived up to my expectations, in some ways it didn't, and in some ways it exceeded it. The location is wonderful, with many rooms having some of the best sea views in Folkestone. The building dates... More

Dear Windmillfan, thank you very much for the indepth review as you have mentioned, it will indeed cost around £3million to get us up to an extremely high standard, but we are currently working our way through bedrooms with a lick of paint and new[ish] furniture. I have a few questions from your review though: 1]can you advise your name/room... More

Go down on a bowls trip every year. Price is good but the rooms are a little dated. I had a blanket on my bed which had a name of the previous hotel and year was like 1950's. I mean for the price you cant go wrong, its only a place to rest my head for the night after drinking... More

It's cheap and cheerful, don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed. Clean sheets, functioning shower, sea view and £35 for two people on a Saturday night. It ain't the Ritz, but at this price.......

It's a cheap hotel with good views. Well situated. Overall the hotel is tired and shabby and could do with an overhaul. Breakfast was included for £20 night per person and was reasonable but not exceptional.

It's not the Hilton but for £50 for a double room on a Saturday night its great value for money. Nice bar downstairs, large en suite room, nice staff. We stayed the night as we had gone to the leas cliff hall to see a show, and for anyone going to Leas Cliff, this place is ideal, less than a... More

The Southcliff is the best hotel in Folkestone, for value for money. You can't go wrong with the breakfast they serve it's the best around. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are very comfortable. The only thing is some of the bathrooms/shower rooms are a bit too small.

Rm 22, cannot fault the view from our window. Perfect, but the room, well, pink bath pink toilet white sink? Bathroom ceiling bellowed where upstairs had leaked, leaving brown stains. Tiles had black between them, needed a bloody good bleaching. Bedroom, well, artexing falling away from the ceiling. Square patch where ceiling had been replaced & whitened but not whitened... More

An ok place to stay for us, it was tired and worn. A good view from my front of hotel room out to sea but noise from traffic along the road below, especially a road sweeper at 6 in the morning didn't help my sleep. My single bed creaked with every movement and noisey floor boards from guests above, was... More
