Below par for a "Hilton" branded hotel, it is anyone's guess if improvements were ever planned pre-pandemic for this hotel. The rooms are somewhat dated, the air-conditioning in the rooms is poor with many guests being given desk fans during the warmer nights. We could not open the window in our room, even for a little ventilation, it seemed to be screwed shut. Overall, it is a clean hotel with good facilities, we liked the little touches like an ice cube dispenser with ice buckets on the 1st floor, aini refrigerator in the room was also good, a kitchenette / microwave room with crockery and cutlery for the guests was appreciated. The best thing about this hotel is the staff, friendly, helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble for them, from the reception staff to the bar / restaurant staff, they are a credit to the hotel. The restaurant serves a decent enough cooked breakfast but the rest of the meals are mediocre. (For the price, You are better off going out or ordering in) There's a decent outdoor seating area and garden where one can enjoy a drink. There's a functional gym that is ok for a workout with a good selection of dumbbells and some cardio equipment. Parking is £7 a night even for disabled spaces. BE WARNED ! THE HOTEL MADE AN UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE ON OUR DEBIT CARD! (They said that this was for anything we might charge to the room) They refunded the money after we complained to our bank who confirmed that it was an unauthorized transaction. This was followed by an e-mailed apology from the hotel. Not the worst hotel but could be so much better.…
I Was quite pleased to find the room spotlessly clean!...Bed quite comfy only thing I struggled with was the pillows were not brilliant. Perhaps the management would check these out?? Didn’t have any noisy guests that’s a Bonus!!
Considering the current climate with covid - our room was definitely not cleaned to a high enough standard. My husband wiped the desk off with a baby wipe and it was absolutely filthy. The grime round the shower cubicle was bad. The mattress was terrible - every time my husband moved, the whole bed moved and creaked. We asked for a blanket/duvet for our toddlers travel cot and they bought us a super king-size duvet. Apparently they don't have singles!?!? Which I was a bit dumbfounded by.
First of all, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was average, however the breakfast was one of the worst fried breakfast I’ve ever had, an absolute Liberty for £15. Anaemic hash browns, cheap horrible tiny sausages, overly salty bacon mad fatty, Mediocre eggs, poverty beans. A complimentary brown bag filled with a Luke warm cardboard box of orange juice, vile stodgy croissant and a room temperature yoghurt. I cannot state how bad the breakfast was.
The Garden Inn Luton North is a quirky building and is located along A505 in Stopsley, on the eastern approach into Luton. I booked a room using the Hilton Honors app and was expecting to be able to collect my digital key online but had a message to say I had to go to the desk to check-in. I had a good welcome and I was recognised as a Hilton Gold member, I was given two complimentary bottles of water and my digital key was unlocked. The digital key removes the need to check-in. If my key was deactivated just so I could collect my bottles of water then surely they could have been left in my room. Not a major issue but I couldn't understand the thought process. I chose my room beforehand on the app which was on the first floor and had an inner courtyard view. The room was extremely spacious and very comfortable for a short stay. The WiFi worked well as did the aircon. It was good to have a small fridge and small safe for the room pricepoint. The bathroom was large with a powerful shower and there was a selection of Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries provided. The hotel is on the outskirts of Luton but is easily accessible by public transport. I used the Arriva 100/101 bus services which run frequently to Luton and the airport westbound, and Hitchin/Stevenage eastbound. There is a large car park at the hotel with chargeable parking. I enjoyed my short stay and for the facilities provided it represented extremely good value for money. …
