We spent two nights at The Langbury and it was a perfect break. The room was really comfortable and the breakfast excellent. The welcome is extremely friendly and the information on the area was extensive. The swimming pool was an unexpected bonus.

A genuine hidden gem on the West Somerset coast! Nigel n Paula make your first stay feel like you're coming home. Be aware the access to the car park is steep so if you have a long overhang or tow bar take care. The room was clean, tidy and very comfortable. We were offered a cup of tea on arrival... More

We have just returned from a weekend at The Langbury. This was our second visit here and was just a perfect weekend. Paula and Nigel are fantastic host, who welcome you to their house like friends, with a welcoming hot drink and delicious lemon drizzle cake on arrival. Beautiful walk to Minehead from the doorstep with sea one side of... More

The title says it all. Immaculate clean room, unbelievable breakfast ranging from full English, fresh fruit salad, cereals etc, etc. and more pleasant and helpful hosts you will not find, although Nigel's weather forecasts were a bit "iffy". The swimming pool was the cherry on top.

Excellent location - charming hosts - comfortable rooms with sea view on Anchor Bay - lovely breakfast with Nigel's daily weather forecast gives a good start of your day out there. We actually stayed here in June 2014. The place, owners and locations is perfect. No faults. Everything from cake on arrival, to a beautiful room with a sea view, and a stunning breakfast just makes it the best place I've stayed in!! Fantastic!!

Visited this establishment over the bank Holiday weekend and had a wonderful relaxing experience. I completely agree with other reviewers about the welcome / hosts and the high standard of accommodation so will not repeat. the owners really do go the extra mile without being overly intrusive. Nice little touches like signs left on the hall table telling guests that... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Langbury is the large Edwardian home of Nigel and Paula Smythe. Originally built as a gentleman's residence, it stands in its own grounds set in an elevated position in the small coastal village of Blue Anchor. Here you will find a friendly welcoming atmosphere combined with individual attention and an excellent Aga cooked, locally sourced, breakfast. Accommodation is provided in five individually furnished rooms which all enjoy magnificent views of the sea and the hills of glorious Exmoor and the Quantocks which are a feast for the eyes at any time of year. The Langbury is 100 metres from the beach and Blue Anchor Station where you can board a steam train on the West Somerset Railway - the longest preserved railway in the country. We are approximately half a mile outside of the Exmoor National Park and three miles from the medieval village of Dunster with its fairy-tale National Trust Castle. The traditional seaside resort of Minehead is five miles to the west and the ancient harbour town of Watchet three miles to the East. ... more   less
