Arrived late to be greeted by owner who made us very welcome. Hotel is in a very quiet area above the town of Minehead but only a 10 minute walk to the centre and slightly longer to the harbour. Rooms spacious, many with great views. Slightly eccentric decor and lovely garden to rear. Breakfast very good with eggs from own... More

Lovely quite hotel situated high in Minehead overlooking the town. Lovely couple running the hotel and very helpful if you want to find your way round. Fresh eggs in the morning by their own chickens and a beautiful garden to walk around. Snooker table available to use and a lovely bar.

Spent 2 lovely nights at the Marston Lodge Hotel - last minute booking directly with the hotel, had room 6 with the amazing views over Minehead. Large room, newish bathroom, plenty of tea/coffee/bottled water in room. There is a shared balcony between 2 front bedrooms which we were able to make use of later in the evenings. Its a 10... More

We loved our first stay at the hotel so much we booked again. The hosts, Alex and Naomi, were very welcoming. We were in Minehead for the West Somerset Railway Diesel Gala in June 2015 and had a day to spare. Alex gave us a wonderful driving route along the coast and into areas we would never have driven without... More

this was a bit of a punt as we dont normally do B&B. Location of property great for surrounding areas esp Exmoor. Owner very knowledgeable and suggested off tourist routes for us to go to and good walks. Breakfast excellent and really filling freshly cooked. You have to select a time for brekkie which did not bother us. We had... More

My Husband and I spent two lovely nights here, beautiful room, calming and luxurious, amazing views, Would have liked more choice for the "hot" breakfast menu, but otherwise a good choice. We enjoyed a banter with "very opinionated"Alex. Haha !

We spent a lovely two nights here. We got exactly what we asked for, quiet, bath and parking. Even the walk uphill on the way from the town or harbour didn't,t put us off. Breakfast was fresh and hot and although the decoration wasn't,t really to our taste the hotel was clean and comfortable with a lovely garden. The best thing... More

Thank you very much for your lovely review; we are both delighted that you had such a comfortable stay with us & enjoyed the beautiful walks to and from the town. The period décor is in-keeping with the Edwardian house, and although not to everyone's taste, a modern make-over would ruin it for certain! We are very pleased that you... More

Thank you for a welcoming and comfortable stay in your well presented and characterful hotel. Any criticism would be on the same level as Craig Revell-Horwood telling Strictly contestants that a little finger was too crooked in hold or one eyebrow was raised slightly higher than the other! Clean and comfortable room, sleep-inducing bed and well appointed en-suite shower room.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Marston Lodge provides visitors, to the wilds of Exmoor, a warm and welcoming launch pad for both exploration and relaxation. This coast and country house was an impressive and elegant, Edwardian gentleman's residence (built circa 1900) which retains much of its original character, charm and style. Being amongst the first private residences built on Exmoor's scenic North Hill it enjoys unrivaled panoramic views from most of its individual, comfortable and stylish en-suite bedrooms. Take a 10 minute walk into the town and enjoy the wide selection of quirky shops, bars, restaurants and coffee shops or head further along the coast to the medieval village of Dunster and Blue Anchor. Alternatively, follow the South West Coast Path and venture up on to beautiful Exmoor National Park (just a few steps from our front door!). Allow us to create an individual, memorable itinerary and guide you to Exmoor's Secret Hidden Gems (using our invaluable local knowledge and numerous experiences!!)... Whatever the weather! Take a Home Made Picnic or ask us to highlight the best eating spots on your tour. Return after a 'Wild & Wooly' day of excitement and adventure to a log fire and a hearty, traditional home made supper. With the best views in town and welcoming, relaxed hosts, Marston Lodge offers a home-from-home style atmosphere that you will want to re-live over and over again. ... more   less
