Lovely old building, maintaining all of its character with interesting furnishings & objects, loved the wellies filled with flowers on the steps. Comfortable beds & cosy room with great views out to sea. Good stock of tea, coffee & bottled water in the room. Breakfasts very nice. A relaxing atmosphere with very friendly helpful hosts. Would definitely stay here again

A very pleasant introduction to Minehead our host Alex was very knowledgeable about the locality and Exmoor in general. This hotel is located on one of the highest points overlooking Minehead with excellent views over the bay

I'll try and be as balanced as I can be but....firstly this is not a hotel, by any stretch of the imagination. As a guest house I would go 4 star, but it's not... The owner Alex, seems like a nice guy, but all is not happy in this establishment, with the sound of constant disagreements, with his wife, and... More

The hotel was situated on top of a hill and had amazing views. Only a short walk to the beach and town centre. My room was nice and cosy. Breakfast was included in the price and it was very nice. Parking was not a problem as you can park on the road just outside the hotel.

lovely house with a nice view bathroom was modern, up to date shower, water pressure ok, the owner gave tips as to hiking tours, unusual self-service at breakfast, making your own tea/coffee and toast, not really suitable for elderly people who would like to go on foot from the town/harbour to the hotel (steep way) and there are a staircase... Arrived late to be greeted by owner who made us very welcome. Hotel is in a very quiet area above the town of Minehead but only a 10 minute walk to the centre and slightly longer to the harbour. Rooms spacious, many with great views. Slightly eccentric decor and lovely garden to rear. Breakfast very good with eggs from own... More

Lovely quite hotel situated high in Minehead overlooking the town. Lovely couple running the hotel and very helpful if you want to find your way round. Fresh eggs in the morning by their own chickens and a beautiful garden to walk around. Snooker table available to use and a lovely bar.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Marston Lodge provides visitors, to the wilds of Exmoor, a warm and welcoming launch pad for both exploration and relaxation. This coast and country house was an impressive and elegant, Edwardian gentleman's residence (built circa 1900) which retains much of its original character, charm and style. Being amongst the first private residences built on Exmoor's scenic North Hill it enjoys unrivaled panoramic views from most of its individual, comfortable and stylish en-suite bedrooms. Take a 10 minute walk into the town and enjoy the wide selection of quirky shops, bars, restaurants and coffee shops or head further along the coast to the medieval village of Dunster and Blue Anchor. Alternatively, follow the South West Coast Path and venture up on to beautiful Exmoor National Park (just a few steps from our front door!). Allow us to create an individual, memorable itinerary and guide you to Exmoor's Secret Hidden Gems (using our invaluable local knowledge and numerous experiences!!)... Whatever the weather! Take a Home Made Picnic or ask us to highlight the best eating spots on your tour. Return after a 'Wild & Wooly' day of excitement and adventure to a log fire and a hearty, traditional home made supper. With the best views in town and welcoming, relaxed hosts, Marston Lodge offers a home-from-home style atmosphere that you will want to re-live over and over again. ... more   less
