I had a very pleasant stay at the Exford hostel this weekend. Set in a beautiful grand old building, you would expect the interior to be outdated however it is exactly the opposite. The owners (who also run the White Horse Pub opposite) have taken great care to inject new life into the building. The facility has everything you need... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your review. Whilst the refurbishment of the hostel is an ongoing project it is nice to hear that the upgrades already carried out are appreciated. As you say, it is a beautiful old building that was just crying out for some TLC, and rest assured, it is getting plenty! We... More

We spent Saturday night here at the YHA in Exford and thoroughly enjoyed it. As we were having a very busy weekend, we opted to book the Bell Tent in the grounds to save us taking all our camping gear and thought it would be a nice change to staying inside. Very glad to have tried this out. The accommodation... More

Great place to camp, allowed to use hotel facilities including Self-catering kitchen, lounge, toilets and showers. Kitchen is really well fitted out. reception is at White horse Inn over the bridge. Bar there does local real ales and food if you don not want to cook, includes Breakfast if required although did not use this facility. Dining room in hostel... More

Stopped for the night with 3 chums. We booked the luxury room - or at least I think we did - very basic accommodation but then you get what you pay for. We were a group of 'gentlemen' walkers in our 50's and ended up in a room with bunks! We had an ensuite toilet and a separate shower -... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review, all feedback is much appreciated. As a Hostel all our rooms consist of bunk beds but we hope this did not detract from your stay. We are still in the process of updating and modernising the hostel since purchasing it from YHA, giving it the TLC that it so deserved!... More

Great way to explore Exmoor, on check in we were given a discover Exmoor booklet with walk ideas we took advantage of this. Now owned by the Hotel/Pub opposite there is always someone on hand to answer questions. Breakfast served at the hotel and was just what we needed for a days walking. Beds made and lots of space in... More

very good YHA in great setting and access to Exmoor. It's run by the White Horse Hotel just across the road, whose staff are friendly and helpful. They will also provide an excellent breakfast if this is pre-booked. It has no wi-fi, but the hotel does have it, however this isn't always convenient. i understand work is being done to... More

About 15 of us descended on Exford for an overnight bbq and to enjoy the hotel next door's ample whisky collection (but that's another story...) It was a typical rainy autumn weekend, but the staff at the YHA were incredibly helpful to ensure our spare rib BBQ went ahead. Beds were comfortable, showers were hot and breakfast the following morning... More

I have just returned from a stay in Exford YHA, there are positives & negatives. Positive: beautiful location set between two small rivers, kids loved paddling, skimming, building dams. Extremely helpful staff. Very well equipped children's park in the village. Lounge in YH is very comfortable, spacious dinning room. Lovely comfy beds, with clean bedding. Negatives: tired kitchen, two under... More

Rest assured that the potential for this hostel will be reached but having only had ownership of it since the end of February 2015 after the YHA had let it run down we have immediately embarked on a programme of upgrading and redecorating but unfortunately that cannot simply happen overnight. However, the kitchen, which is as we inherited, is the... More

Family room, very comfortable in a totally no frills way. Big bay window made a snugly nest for kids to watch village life waking up in the morning. Managed by the pub across the road, who are making improvements as they go. Staff were lovely.

I went to exford for a day and decided to take up the camping option of YHA. The hotel being inside the national park offers you the perfect environs, if you are looking for a peaceful getaway.
