1 mile from Highclere Castle. Stayed and ate our evening dinner at The Carnarvon Arms. Very nice room with superbly comfortable bed. Room and ensuite were compact but newly decorated and no complaints. Food was not cheap, neither was the wine list but both food and drink were both tasty, my wife's steak was cooked exactly as she requested. Sat... More

Whilst this pub and inn is in the country, it is also very close to the motorway and to the historic Highclere Castle. The building, inside and out, is beautiful and the service is excellent. I have enquirer about staying there this Christmas for my vacation. Will definitely go back. I didn't have lunch, but the restaurant seemed pretty busy... More

Perfectly situated five minutes from Highclere Castle this pub is fab. Very friendly staff, really good food and a lovely clean and ambient interior. My roast was lovely, really fresh veg and cracking yorkshires. Save some room for dessert though as they're pretty special too. Reasonably priced, but not cheap but you get what you pay for - quality. Our... More

We went there for lunch after a visit to Highclere Castle. The place itself is really nice we were greeted really well and sat down to enjoy our lunch! We promptly ordered and waited. We ate our starter a very nice sharing board of charcuterie and waited on our main course! When these arrived one of them we had an... More

This really was a very nice pub and hotel that has undergone a £million plus refurb which brings me to the only draw back, the lack of thought on the bathroom layout. Quality is superb. I stayed in the 'l'escargot room'. First off as a bloke there is no way you can stand in front of the toilet because the... More

Visited restaurant on a Monday evening with family. The staff were very friendly and service excellent. With our meal we were given a complimentary bottle of Champagne and a starter each, due to a previous poor experience (not under current management). The whole meal was good with all our food very enjoyable. Recommended and we will be back.

Excellent service, really high quality food and were more than welcome to personalise a meal for our one year old. Perfect location for a visit to Highclere Castle. Just what we needed after a long drive from the north. Good value for money considering where it is. Would recommend to any one in the area

Very nice country place. The area and the food is excellent. Service is the best, you feel as if your part of the gentry, which lives in the area. We had sandwiches, they don,t scrimp on the content either. Lovely Grannery crusty bread. With salad, and pint of real ale.

Very disappointing Saturday night dinner for two couples, particularly as previous visits have been OK and recent reviews have had 5 stars. Manager was very welcoming with a nice manner, however.. Wrong Rioja delivered 2014 instead of 2009, one of the starters was incorrect (Squid instead of Bubble & Squeak) and when queried were told that the kitchen only had... More

As you mentioned we are fortunate to receive many great reviews and work hard to achieve this. It is with a heavy heart that I read and reflect on your last visit. Of course I don't want anyone to leave feeling disappointed in my business and all of the issues raised above are being addressed and mostly down to timings... More

We had lunch here last Sunday, meeting up with family, as it's equidistant between them and us and made a nice change from the over-busy Cotswolds where we usually meet up. The building itself is old and has been very well refurbished and modernised without losing any of its character or charm. It was a very hot, sunny afternoon, and... More

This is what I call a detailed response and you should definitely have a food/going out blog as it gives me a real sense of the experience you all had. It was with a warm heart that the feedback was positive and this gives me the opportunity to reward and praise the staff for great service. It is the service... More
