We booked this hotel for Breakfast en route from Portsmouth to North East England. On arrival we told a waitress that we had a booking for Breakfast and we were asked to take a table in the bar as the Dining Room was "Residents Only". The table wasn't set and after a considerable wait I had to get up and... More

Country pub with rooms, all the staff were very helpful. The room was ideal for our needs, although the beds were a little soft. Food in the restaurant was excellent with a good choice of options at reasonable prices. We decided to have poached eggs as an addition to the free breakfast they were beautifully cooked and good value. An... More

We had a brilliant weekend over the August Bank Holiday. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful - we had a laugh with a few of them - and the Manager, who has only recently took over management of The Carnarvon Arms, was brilliant. He took time out to chat with us, promptly sorted... More

Average food and accommodation. Not good value for money. However attentive staff and beds were comfortable, bathroom in my room had a mouldy ceiling and looked shabby. More attention needs to be paid to the food quality and general maintenance of the bedrooms especially given the prices charged!

We stayed for one night for a visit to nearby Highclere Castle. Our room was quite small but very clean and comfortable. Complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits and bottled water. Free wifi.Continental breakfast, consisting of fruit juice, cereals and croissants, included. Cooked breakfast extra. We had an excellent dinner in the restaurant. Nice ambience.Very good food and service. Highly recommended.

This is the second time we have stayed here. The rooms are pleasant, well equipped and the beds comfortable. The only drawback is that it can be noisy as near a main road, but if it was not it would not be as convenient. We use it as an overnight stop on the way to Southampton. We have a disabled... More
