Room was clean tidy and adequate for needs whilst away. Food and drink was great and reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Very impressed with the Hotel and staff but feel it may benefit from more permanent staff being at this location.

We stayed weekend 16th July 2016 for Newbury races & Simply Red concert. From the minute we entered the door, everyone was so friendly & nothing was too much trouble, we was advised how to register our car in car park, booked in by Sally the Manager, who booked us a taxi too, while we enjoyed a quick drink at... What lovely people that run this establishment, so very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, food was scrummy, and breakfast was lush, even fresh strawberries, the waitress was really lovely, nothing was too much trouble for her, well done. Rooms were fine, very clean, an lovely oldy worldy pub. We stayed outside, which was great, just by the... More

Sorry, but this place is dirty, noisy, run down and massively overpriced. I could forgive a rustic charm, or even basic accommodation if the cost was reflective, but the room was shabby and the en-suite was a cupboard that you have to step up into. I'd rather have a swift rub down with an oily rag than use the shower... More

Character abounds in the building and the pub. Warm, friendly and exactly the experience I had hoped for when planning my vacation. Warren, Sal, Kim, and the rest of the gang make it hard to leave. Food is great, location is perfect. Next trip I will organize my itinerary to ensure I have time for another visit.

I stayed in the Bacon Arms for one night with a friend in a twin room as we were on a business trip in Newbury. We were greeted by lovely staff at the desk who helped us check the car in (parking is behind the hotel, about 20 spaces), told us everything we needed to know for breakfast and explained... More

stayed for 1 night as a stopover when driving from Newcastle to Cornwall. Room was large and well furnished with double bed, desk, chair and large wardrobe. Plenty of tea/coffee/milk etc. and 2 free bottles of water. Good full English breakfast. good pub downstairs, we sat in the beer garden at the back. As it states in the guest book... More

Lovely pub which was refurbished in January, standard rooms great staff and management. Parking fines are only in place if you fail to read the outside signs, the signs on the pub doors and signs at the reception.(all you have to do is put it in on the panel at reception!) good food and always a laugh at the bar.
