Dropped in for drinks as we were passing and had some time to kill. We were greeted by friendly staff who took our order and dealt with us swiftly and professionally. The pub was packed with what appeared to be both locals and people outside of the area eating. We managed to find a table and consume our drinks. Even...

Spent 2 nights in a tiny room with unbelievably noisy plumbing!! The shower was large but took time to produce hot water and then would suddenly get very hot or very cold. Made a lot of noise it made when running. Every time you turned on the tap or flushed the loo the pipes vibrated noisily! When neighbouring rooms used...

The rooms are not above the pub but nearby and you hear little apart from smokers in the pub garden from the Inn itself. We got very good value by booking late. We had a large room which was generally clean with a grubby shower. Plenty of tea and coffee and a good sized TV. My score is lower due...

After a disappointing time at Highclere Castle, this lovely pub provided a welcome break. Cheery atmosphere with what appeared to be lots of locals enjoying a regular lunch visit, we were able to have a filling, hot meal from a good range of options. It was served prompty and happily, with a degree of imagination. We were able to enjoy...

Very helpful, friendly staff; spotless, comfortable room, decorated to a high standard (ours had a beautiful walk-in shower); good choice of delicious meals for dinner - I just wish we could have stayed more than one night! We hope to go back again next year.

Rooms are in a building adjacent to the pub. It's quite a way out of Newbury, but located in quaint countryside. The room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was clean and had the necessary amenities. Tea and coffee making facilities, and decent wifi. The bed ...... the most comfortable I've slept in.

Stayd for one night, bed and breakfast. Guest rooms are being renovated - probably finished by now A really comfokrtable room, though mine was on the small side and the double bed almost filled it. Bed was really comfortable; the shower was excellent and everything altogether was good. I liked the family atmosphere of the pub and the food was...

My partner and stayed at The Carpenters Arms a couple of weekends ago as we fancied a last minute break in the countryside. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. We had Room 6 which was really lovely and was huge! We spotted a couple of other double rooms and certainly think this might be one of the biggest...
