We (myself my husband and three year old daughter) have just returned fron a three night stay here. Overall I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed it -my daughter loved running around the huge spaces inside the hotel -the staff were pleasant when approached- yes there are areas of the hotel which need updating (we were lucky enough to have... Part of a trip organised by Travel Style was to stay overnight in Teeside on our way to Whitby! Disappointingly at the very last minute the company moved us to the Grand Hotel, which I can honestly say was the worse accommodation we have ever experienced! Dirty & shabby interior! Rooms lacking essentials including decent towels, poor food & the... More

Recently returned from an over night stay in The Grand Hotel. My Wife and myself have stayed recently here before. My First complaint is that when I booked this stay I was quoted £130 and when I had to pay The hotel charged me another 50p because I was paying by Debit Card. I also had to point out to... More

Staff were rude and seemed to be only concerned with the majority of national holidays customers who were taking over the foyer and most of the hotel. We were given a basement room which was not clean no windows and far too hot.. Did not feel as though we could complain as the reception staff were pretty rude even when... More

Our room was in a basement with no window . I was concerned for our safety in the event of a fire , the receptionist agreed with my concern and was obviously embarrassed. We had ordered a bottle of wine which was on special offer when we booked over the phone , we were told it would be in our... More

I cannot tell you how bad this hotel is. It makes Fawlty Towers look like the Ritz and Basil Fawlty look like Manager of the Year. Britannia Hotels should be ashamed to be associated with it. Poor facilites, dirty rooms, faulty lifts, cold and low quality food and the staff are the rudest I have ever come across in the hospitality... More

A last minute 3 day break that was a nightmare. We arrived on Friday 12th August I had to queue for over 40 minutes to check in. Ok it is a busy time of the year but that does not excuse a lack of professionalism by the staff, the key given to me was for room 424, my key card... More

Iconic and beautiful but sadly spoiled by bingo and gambling machines.cheap rooms though and average value happy hour. Sadly needs a bit of refurb on the exterior. Ball Room and staircase beautiful. Outdoor terrace pretty filthy.

Horrible and dingchy hotel. Lift does not go to all floors and takes ages to get to room. Also breakfast horrible and not worth the £7. Terrible rooms that you count not swing a cat in. Just a bad hotel not worth going
