We arrived in Scarborough without a hotel reservation. While driving along the impressive sea front you can't help but see the Grand Hotel looking over the rest of the town. We thought we'd try to see if any rooms were available but imagined it would be a little too expensive for our budget. We checked online and found it not... More

Faded glory. Firstly it's no longer grand, but yet at the same time it is. It has a wide, sweeping main staircase and what muts once have been very elegant plasterwork. In style, it's grotesque-gothic, but oh so very tired: public bathrooms little better than what you might have found on a run-down railway station in the 1950s; water-damaged plaster... More

A shabby rundown fleapit that smells stale at best and at worst smells like someone had died in there. Food wich was so bland and overcooked, despite not eating for over 18 hours I couldn't finish it and had to go and find a local takeaway. Rooms poorly laid out with only one double electric socket at the opposite end... More

It's a lovely looking hotel, or must have been 100 years ago but now has that special charm reserved for old seaside hotels, the Overlook and the hotel Roald Dahl's Witches stayed in. If ghosts were real, they'd probably be here. I'm sure I saw some furries committing sex acts out of the corner of my eye, anyhow. It's just... More

This hotel is in a wonderful place; on a cliff, beside the sea. 100 years ait was probably really outstanding but it is not very tired. While the public entrance is impressive, the rooms are badly in need of refurbishment and the lifts are antiquated. Every time I tried to use the lifts there was a substantial queue. There are... My 1st experience of the "grand" and most definitely my last. The only kind thing I could say was the friendly staff and cleanliness of the room, however besides that there's not much else positive I can say. A basement room with no windows and meal times were a battle to get what you wanted on your plate, 9 times... More

My wife and I stayed at the Grand for two nights (23-25 September). We were attending a convention in the same hotel, so staying at the Grand was logical. Overall, the cringeworthy things were outweighed by the positives. The heyday of this place was probably around 1976 - before cheap foreign holidays started pulling people away. Architecturally it's amazing but... More

This once Grand "Old Lady" that once enjoyed the patronage of High Society now has faded from Glory She is tired, worn out, dirty and squalid. The Location is good but OMG! you can't see the views because of the DIRTY windows. No air in Dining room windows nailed shut !!! Food is under cooked and just VERY basic, very... More
