tired and dated in need of updating. The room was warm and clean, fresh crisp bedding but the paint was peeling off the painted tiles in the en-suite. We would have complained if we were staying more than one night and feel it was probably the only room left as it was a last minute booking .

Booked in here for one night only with my partner and my mum. On entering the hotel we remarked on the rather dated decor and the quaintness of being given keys rather than a card for our rooms. This should have really been the give away for what was to come - rooms that hadn't been refurbished since the 1960's!... More

Very good value at £134 with sea view B&B plus evening meal. The staff are friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in had dated decor and needed refurbishing but was clean and had three windows with a sea view, we even had our own balcony. Breakfast was good and was served to you by lovely staff, nice touch as... More

The hotel is very clean and charmingly old fashioned. The view from the hotel is stunning. 10-15 mins walk down onto Scarborough sea front and 5 mins to the town. There is a cliff lift for the less mobile which costs £1 also a costal bus which goes all along the front. The parlour lounge is great to take yourself... More

Stayed for 1 night with National Holidays. Hotel is in a very good position with beautiful views, but there are many steps to climb unless you use the chair lifts. Public areas are very pleasant and nicely decorated with comfortable chairs. My room was very dated, with peeling wallpaper and old furniture, but the room and bathroom were very clean... More

Lovely big room very recently made over to a good standard. Bathroom large and spacious but what really let it down was the old and rather ugly dark furniture, such a shame as would have been great with more modern furniture !!! Hotel overall needs updating. Friendly staff. meals times seemed very rushed as though they couldn't wait for you... More

Stayed 1 night. Saturday. Rooms clean but basic and very much in need of modernising. Dark furniture, old bathrooms. 10 minute walk from beach or into town. Only member off staff seen was at reception, lovely lady pleasant & helpful. Room Only. So cannot comment on food.

As you will see from the reviews below, many other travellers have spoken about the need to bring this place into the 21st century. They are currently doing this, however they are totally refurbishing the whole place, in the height of the season while staying open. It didn't spoil our stay, but it certainly didn't add to it either. The... More

Two main positive comments. The staff are very friendly and the views are lovely. However there are a lot of negatives. Very dated decor and quite obviously they do not employ any maintenance staff or if they do they need to go to specsavers. Our room had a towel rail hanging off the wall, loose tiles in the bathroom with... More
