Such helpful and informative staff. Staff were very accommodating at helping us with local and area travel needs. Wentvoutvofvtheircway to ensure we had all information necessary to ensure our safety. They went beyond what we expected. Restaruant has good food, cozy welcoming gathering room. A great little bar with great selections. Clean and quiet rooms. A very enjoyable stay for... More

The reception, lounge and bar downstairs is really lovely; it has all been refurbished downstairs since the December 2015 floods. Struggled to get my case upstairs with no lift (staff offered to help but I was embarrassed about how heavy it was!) Double bedroom with view over village was basic but bed was comfortable and sheets were lovely and crisp.... More

The room was ok. There was nothing really wrong with it. The ground floor looked amazing, but my room was old and a bit dingy. However, I feel a bit bad complaining too loudly about the state of the rooms as the town had suffered a flood only a few months earlier. Many of the surrounding businesses were still closed... I headed out for lunch with my family yesterday and decided to try the Deeside inn it's been many years since we had last tried it and I'm pleased to say we had a pleasant surprise. We found the hotel to be well decorated with a pleasant atmosphere, the waiting staff where attentive and polite and the menu was impressive... More

Considering the town was flooded in Dec 2015 & the hotel was affected, the room was comfortable as was the bed. There was no hanging space & no frig, but this was OK for one night. You'd need to check for longer stays. It was a hot night & the doona was too hot, but no lighter bed covering available.... More

Town in progress, still recovering. Hitel was the only place left this week due to ballaters Highland games. We waited two hours to get our room and were then upgraded to a 'suite'. Lots of stairs to climb. The room could be good but from entering the room there was a wardrobe whose drawer opened when opening the door! The... More

My daughter and I have just spent 5 lovely days in Scotland. We chose this hotel as it was the only place that had availability in Ballater during August. The ground floor has been completely re-furbished following the winter floods and we were told our room had only just been finished. This was also the reason given for the TV... More

Ballater, and this hotel were badly affected by a flood in December 2015. The town is recovering, and the hotel has done an excellent job of getting back up and running. Its decor and furnishings are of a traditional Scottish hotel. There is a lively bar, a good restaurant, and a large and comfortable resident's lounge (which, as we had... More

This place is one of the friendliest hotels we've stayed in. The staff couldn't do enough for us. We organised a party for my auntie and the staff went above and beyond to make it a fantastic treat for her. This was an extremely busy weekend for the hotel I believe and the staff we saw were working from dusk... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Deeside Inn is an authentic Highland inn situated in the picturesque village of Ballater in the heart of Royal Deeside - a few miles away from Balmoral Castle, the Queen's summer home. Only an hour's drive from Aberdeen, this part of the Cairngorms is world famous for its stunning scenery and offers some of the best walking, climbing, mountain biking, river fishing and wildlife watching in Scotland. We can arrange a huge range of outdoor activities on behalf of our guests. The inn itself is welcoming and cosy with open log fires, wooden floors, tartan carpets, comfy tweed furnishings and well appointed comfortable bedrooms. In our Ceilidh bar we offer over 40 Scottish single malts and hearty Highland dishes, and also host fantastic traditional music sessions every other Wednesday.
