Where do I start, the rooms are awful, really in need of an upgrade. The photos of the lovely rooms are misleading... There are only a couple of rooms like that. The rest are dreadful!! Very cold in the hotel, take a jacket and extra duvet. Service is poor, staff are rude, however some staff are lovely and very helpful.... More

We stayed here for one night and was warmly greeted by reception. It is a charming hotel on the lower level with a nice reception area, lounge, restaurant and bar. The room was a little small and outdated. The bed was uncomforable as it sloped on both sides so you felt like you could fall out of bed. The bathroom... More

My partner and I treated ourselves to an overnight stay at Deeside Inn. What a great find!! Hotel was immaculate. The staff were friendly and extremely attentive. Lesley on reception deserves a special mention, we had a couple of minor issues which she did her absolute best to assure and resolve for us. The food was outstanding and dining room... More

Unexpected detour landed me in Ballater. Lovely town, the facade of The Deeside Inn is lovely and quaint and the downstairs reception, lounge, dining and pub areas are all done up to a very high standard in traditional Scottish tones (tartan carpet, wingback chairs, wood panelling etc). Upstairs it is quite dated, in need of an upgrade but it was... More

We spent 2 nights at the Deeside Inn in mid August, as part of a holiday tour of Scotland. We booked the room online in advance on a DBB basis, this being one of the more expensive places to stay during our 12 nights away from home. The hotel has no car park, but there is unrestricted on-street parking near... More

We just loved the wonderfully traditional dining room with its broad range of clientele, fantastic menu, extremely flavoursome food, faultless professional, friendly staff who are very customer-orientated. In fact, we like it so much that we've not yet tried any other eatery in Ballater on our recent 2 weekend visits. Oh and the fact that the food is such good... More

Spent one night here. Hotel situated on square in good location. Our room was comfortable if a little dated but good shower in bathroom and all very clean. Breakfast was good and the public rooms are comfortable and welcoming. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Stayed here Friday to Sunday for a golfing visit. Bed and breakfast only. Room was old fashioned but clean. Comfy bed. On suite bathroom with shower in the bath was ok. Bathroom needs a paint and modernised as did the room. Breakfast was quite good with a large selection of choices. Hotel ideally situated near the square in Ballater with... More

My wife and I stayed here on a DB&B basis from the 8/9 until 12/9. Our room had been recently refurbished so was very comfortable and clean throughout our stay. The staff in the restaurant were nothing short of brilliant who met the customers needs, were clean, polite and always professional. The range of food on the menu was nothing... More

This whole area you feel Scotland! The town is quaint with quaint shops and helpful informative people that were friendly and helpful. We stayed one night here. The room was lovely and clean. We also had breakfast as part of the room. Supper (dinner) was very good and the staff great. Tea the following afternoon was disappointing if only because... More

The Deeside Inn is an authentic Highland inn situated in the picturesque village of Ballater in the heart of Royal Deeside - a few miles away from Balmoral Castle, the Queen's summer home. Only an hour's drive from Aberdeen, this part of the Cairngorms is world famous for its stunning scenery and offers some of the best walking, climbing, mountain biking, river fishing and wildlife watching in Scotland.
