Stayed here as a first stop when walking Hadrian's Wall. Charlotte & Tony were very accommodating and great hosts. Everywhere was very clean and the breakfast was lovely. Location was very close to town and there were loads of places within easy reach to have dinner.

Very friendly B&B. Tony & Charlotte were helpful and happy to help. The whole place was very clean. We had a (functional) triple room and a lovely single room and beds were very comfortable. The showers were good and the breakfast was fantastic. Great fruit salad.

Dated decor. Water stains on bedroom walls. Peeling wallpaper. Overall lower quality ingredients for breakfast such as tinned plum tomatoes, not fresh. Tony gave us a friendly greeting then handed us our room key, pointed us in the direction of our room, and left us there. Views out our room to rubbish strewn alley. Mattress is hard and in need... Had a lovely big room to ourselves and there was enough room for the dogs to be out of our hair (even though they were happy to just sleep all night). Hotel was spotless and the brekkie in the morning was delicious. Everything was just right and Tony & Charlotte (the owners) were only too happy to help out. A... More

After a quite early arrival we got our room which was friendly and well furnished. From the bed we could look through the window, seeing clouds and hearing seagulls which I enjoyed very much. A short, abt. 10 Minutes walk brought us to the city center of Carlisle and also the station is not far away. The hosts were very... More

Nicely presented B&B, with a good sized and well furnished ensuite bedroom. Only 10 minutes walk to the city centre, but we were unaware of any external noise. The owners were very welcoming and gave us recommendation to restaurants etc. Nice hearty breakfast set us up for the next day

Howard Lodge is in a great location for walking in to the town centre. The owners were helpful and friendly. The room had all we needed and the breakfast was excellent. Our last but one stop on the Hadrian's Wall walking route.

Greeted by a strong smell of smoking which appeared to come from the private quarters of the owners (room on right of front door). Also disappointed with one of the 3 rooms we booked as wallpaper was hanging of the ceiling and walls (tried to upload a photo but couldn't?).

Stayed when walking Hadrians wall. The hosts were lovely and so helpful in trying to track down a missing walking stick. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was comfortable and quiet considering we were in a city. The breakfast was hearty and very filling. Lots of help in choosing a suitable restaurant

Stayed at this welcoming B&B whilst walking Hadrians Wall. Clean and comfortable guest house, hearty breakfast and lovely hosts. Ate at Dempseys restaurant on the evening, gorgeous food probably the best steak I have ever eaten. Denise, Heather, Valerie and Ann
