We had a very pleasant weekend whilst staying for a wedding party. The hotel was very characteristic with lots of interesting medieval artefacts and features. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Our room was spacious and bed very comfortable. The grounds were wel kept and on a pleasant day great to sit out in and relax.... More

Business trip - spent a week here, very quiet occupancy wise, which was nice...staff attentive and polite, memorable food which was outstanding. Was tasked with travelling around all hotels in Cumbria (terrible job I know) selecting the best for Japanese clients - food here (admittedly mainly steaks) were by far the best I experienced (from the Armathwaite, to the Halston... Booked a meal for two,we have been on numerous occasions and the consistency is amazing. The menu is always interesting and keeps up to date with modern cookery.Plenty of choice for starters and main courses range from Dalston Hall chicken pie which was not the normal pie, succulent chicken & lovely pastry.I had lamb breast with lamb rump with red onion mash... Arrived to hotel nearly at midnight and had one night stay. Was excited from the very first evening with beautiful interiors. Rooms are clean and very comfortable. Early morning I need to continue my trip, so I had some more great emotions with interiors and a small walk around the building - it was amazing play to fell the atmosphere... More

This hotel is in a lovely old building and is very impressive both outside and in. We had a superior room (room 8) which was very spacious with a comfortable 4 poster bed. The room was very quiet too. The bathroom which had a shower over could do with updating as there were a few cracked tiles on the floor.... More

I honestly cannot believe some of these reviews. We have stayed at Dalston Hall regularly since we got married and would honestly give it 6 stars if possible! On our last visit the wonderful manager had left us a bottle of champagne on ice in our room on the house, that is what I call customer focused management. I suspect... More

Went with friends for afternoon tea. The service was good and everything was very well presented. The setting is very old world charm with a lot of dark panelling and old paintings - almost giving the feeling of going back in time. However I can only give 3 stars as 2 friends were not catered for despite several advance phone... More

After attending a wedding all day here, we can truly say the management were shocking. The attitude towards their paying costumers (which was incredibly overpriced) was terrible there was accusations of negative drinking without permission from the hotel staff and although they were found to be false accusations not once an apology made. This was a terrible shame as the... More

Expensive drink and very average food. Enough said. Beautiful gardens and lively hotel but dissapointed with the vastly inflated prices for drink and food . The wedding party had people all over the place as there are quirky little bars around the hotel that accommodate small groups
