We were slightly worried by the reviews but there was little choice in Carlisle for a dog friendly wheelchair accessible hotel. Pleasantly surprised. A call to the hotel directed us to the rear where free parking and space next to the door. There are cameras on the car park so we were confident to leave the canoes on the car... More

We have stayed here before and found it to be charming and comfortable although it could do with some refurbishment. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Although our room was dated, it was very clean and comfortable, large with nice bathroom. Plenty of tea/coffee and toiletries. Didn't drink in the bar but did see the amazing ceiling tiles which... I visited this hotel yesterday 20/8/16 for 1 night, disappointed was not even a scratch on what I felt upon arrival, the interior of the whole hotel and room is dated, the carpets have stains on them throughout. The room upon arrival smelt somewhat like a mens urinal at a week long festival, all floor boards in the room creaked.... More

On arrival our room was not ready, so we were transferred to another. Hotel is dated and down at heel, and resembled a building site with painters effectively putting guest foyer out of use. On return to our new room after exploring Carlisle, we found a very noisy generator or similar making a constant racket. On being asked to switch... More

We payed £155 for two nights stay. The rooms are very basic and a bit boring. It's a lovely hotel but needs some refurbish doing. The floor boards are so creaky you could hear people walking past your room all night but I suppose it is a very old building. The staff were friendly tho we only seen two staff... More

We booked a single room for my daughter and a double room for myself and my partner. To be fair we weren't expecting luxury from a 2 star hotel, but it is very overpriced for how shabby it is. Beds and floorboards in both rooms were extremely squeaky - wherever you moved whilst walking or moving on the bed -... More

Spent two nights here. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Ensuite bathroom was clean and rooms were cleaned each day. Tea and coffee making facilities in room. Breakfast was delicious. Very good value for money - would stay again.

The county is a grim dump of a place which is desperately in need of a complete overhaul or at least a good clean, it's noisy smelly and dirty and those are its good points !, I've included a photo of the soap dispenser in my room which was apparently the honeymoon suite (trust me if you had to honeymoon...
