I stayed here with a friend in September after a friends birthday night out and after paying £70 for a room I expected something of a decent standard. Upon arrival, we checked out the room to be greeted by the overwhelming stench of bleach. The room was extremely warm, giving it was a colder month I understand the need to... More

Stayed here for 1 night as my wife was attending a 2 day conference in Carlisle. Were greeted in reception by friendly staff and swiftly checked in. We were given room 112 (Devonshire), we walked in and WOW it was massive, like a suite almost great big double bed a giant settee I was speechless. We only paid £55 for... More

Very pleasant and helpful hotel staff. Room was very clean and adequate with spacious bathroom. Parking easily accessed opposite the hotel. Breakfast, though a little limited in range, tasted good and was promptly served.

A cheap city centre hotel, and that's what you get. I'm guessing back in the 70's it was a lovely hotel, however it remains stuck in the 70's. The carpets are threadbare with a lot of questionable stains throughout the hotel. Beds, furniture TVs all well past their best. Lukewarm showers and cramped bathroom, which strangely has the wash basin... More

At first glance, The County Hotel was not a place I would want to stay; grimy, yellowing net curtains behind rickety, dilapidated windows. However, the hotel is situated in Botchergate, right in the night-life centre of Carlisle, and also convenient for the Railway Station. Emboldened by the reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided to give it a try. The room was... More

We had an overnight stay on Sunday 22nd Nov, 1 night's b&b for 2 for £36, and we could take our 2 dogs for no extra charge. It was convenient, the room was huge and was clean, and the dining room where we had breakfast was lovely, plus breakfast was good - a help-yourself buffet so plentiful if a little... More

Nathalie on reception was a delightful young lady making the whole check in/check out experience very pleasurable.Single room was a decent size and excellent value for money at £35 for a Friday night. Radiator in the room was turned off at my request, no problem. Hotel is of the dated, quaint, old fashioned variety which is right up my back... More

This is an old hotel but not without its charms. Our room was small but comfortable, a tiny bathroom, but a very good complimentary breakfast the next morning. Well located on the fringe of the main street to walk to the centre, castle and sites. Also free parking at the back of the hotel. Good wifi.
