We really enjoyed the feeling of being valued guests in a private home. Before dinner we sat in the very comfortable sitting room in front of an open fire enjoying a drink from the well-stocked honesty bar. Dinner was extremely well cooked and presented. The home-made sticky toffee pudding was the best I'd had in a very long time. Our room was the palatial Birdies Suite where the comfortable bed and beautiful linen ensured a good night's sleep. Breakfast the next day - with lovely views from the dining room - was also excellent. If I'm being picky, I found the room slightly cold on arrival as the heating hadn't come on. Also I'm not too keen on dogs in the dining room, but I do acknowledge that this is a dog-friendly establishment! I'm sure we will return.
What a wonderful location, we had a very pleasant stay the hall is a thing of great beauty and is fantastic being able to experience it, the staff very helpful the food outstanding and a real stately home experience, we will definitely be returning, my only advice to other travelers is to book a longer stay.
What an amazing place this is. Spent one night here in the Birdie Suit wish it had been more. The evening meal was delicious and so was the breakfast which was included in the price. The staff were fantastic and made us feel very welcome would come back in a heart beat
We stayed in Sarah's Room which was very nice indeed. Snow was falling outside which made the grounds magical. Both dinner and breakfast were very good and the staff were excellent. Great position a few minutes from the M6
This is our second stay at Warwick Hall. I am currently sitting in the Otterstone room watching TV next to the log fire. It is a haven away from everything. The decor is stunningly comfortable, so tasteful and relaxing. The beds are to die for and the surroundings beautiful. We have dined in the dining room, enjoyed a beautiful breakfast, had a walk along the salmon fishing river alongside the hotel and back to our haven of a room for a glass of wine and more relaxation. Couldn’t recommend enough!
My family and I absolutely loved our stay at Warwick Hall - the grounds were beautiful (even in the rain), the rooms were wonderfully spacious, beds comfortable, warm, and with lovely views. Breakfast was fantastic, and (although we were unable to stay for dinner) the evening menu looked wonderful. Finally, the discovery of a large toy cupboard in the Birdie Room (a great family room) for the little one meant he was amply entertained during our stay...that was a huge plus!
Absolutely lovely building, amazing grounds, fantastic food, brilliant staff and great hosts all of whom can’t do enough for you. Sitting in front of the fire in the drawing room I enjoyed probably too much. Even caught a fish ! Thank you for great stay will come again.
We were accommodated in the beautiful New Room with stunning view overlooking the river. Open fire, large room, clean, comfortable bed. Walk along the river to the walled garden, wonderful evening in the drawing room with interesting conversation, beautiful meal. A very pleasant stay, we will come back
Hubby booked afternoon tea here as a surprise for me and, as we had watched the Alex Polizzi TV episode featuring Warwick Hall, we thought it would be fun to see if the owners had stuck to their promises. Unfortunately not! First of all, hubby went online to book and was required to pay a £10 deposit...but there was no way of paying this deposit online! He then phoned and got the American owner, Val, who sounded quite confused about it all and said, no need to pay a deposit (why is it on your website then?), I'll just book you in for 2:30pm and we'll see you later. Fine... But when we turned up at 2:30pm, there was no-one at what we assumed was Reception, although that's hard to tell, so we went into what looked like it might be the restaurant or dining room, but turned out to be an empty drawing room. We came back out again and fortunately, bumped into a waitress as we wandered round the various rooms. When we said we'd come for our 2:30pm booking for afternoon tea, the poor lass looked as if she hadn't a clue that we were expected and our guess is that the owner had completely forgotten to let anyone know we were coming. The waitress seated us in the drawing room and asked if we'd like tea or coffee while she brought the afternoon tea. We opted for tea and were just a little bit surprised that we were given mugs and not nice china. It was also odd to be seated there and not taken straight to our afternoon tea which again compounded our suspicion that we were not expected. Our food was being hurriedly prepared while we waited. Some time after, we were invited to move through to the dining room where our afternoon tea finally awaited us. However, we were given no tea or coffee and hubby had to pop back through to the other room to fetch our now depleted teapot which, fortunately, had not yet been cleared away. This tea, of course, ran out shortly afterwards, but we saw neither hide nor hair of any waitress again that afternoon. We suspect they had finished their lunch service and had gone home. So my husband searched for the kitchen, found one of the staff there who, although somewhat surprised, kindly made us a pot of tea and brought it through. On to the food now. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty - about eight fingers - although nothing out of the ordinary except perhaps the salmon and cream cheese, the others were pretty ordinary, cheese and pickle, egg mayo and ham. There were two plain scones and two fruit ones and some small squares of cake and almond tart. The tart was nice, but the cakes lacked somewhat in flavour - we hadn't a clue what they were meant to taste like and they also looked like they were the leftovers from someone else's tea that had been scraped together because the staff weren't expecting us. In one way, we enjoyed our time here because the setting is lovely and we had a nice walk through the gardens after eating. However, the service is pretty chaotic including our departure. As I mentioned earlier, the waitresses disappeared, no-one came to see how we were doing, offer more tea or present us with a bill. We hung around for a while waiting, then decided to go to what looked like an office off the entrance hall to see if we could pay there, all the while thinking that unscrupulous people could just walk out the door without paying! However, Val the owner was bringing bottles of wine out of the drawing room and asked if we were here to check in.... So we told her no, we're here to pay for our afternoon tea. At £58 for two, we felt this was hugely overpriced for what we had and for the lack of care shown to their guests. No-one here seems to have a clue what's going on and I suspect that's coming from the top down... All Alex Polizzi's suggestions seem to have gone out the window - we had already learned that the manager had left and now, even the very capable sounding receptionist from the programme seems to have gone too. More's the pity. It really would be money well spent for the owners to engage a capable manager and take a huge step back. Such a shame for such a lovely venue, but we certainly won't be back and wouldn't recommend it.…
We stayed one night on the way to Blair Atholl and again on our return to Herefordshire. We stayed in the Corner Room which had great views in two directions. Meals were excellent and reasonably priced for the quality. I had the best Bruscchetta (tomato and garlic) that I have tasted in my life despite many visits to Italy. The other courses were also great. We didn’t fish but it was reported that someone caught (and released) an eight pound salmon during our stay. The river edge walk to the walled kitchen garden, and beyond, is worth doing. The kitchen garden is not immaculate but is still impressive. It is unusual for a kitchen garden to be so far from the house. Dog wise, we had two males, a German Wirehaired Pointer and a Spinone Italiano. Neither are good at doing their bodily functions on the lead. Fortunately there is a good area to run free beyond the house but do pick up and bin the messes. Don’t run dogs free on the river walk due to ground nesting birds. The house dog is a German Shorthaired Pointer called Rhubarb who is placid and friendly with people. There are, however, allegations of her aggressive behaviour to some dogs. Our dogs slept in our car so there was no need for them to meet. If you want to take your dog in the house a controlled introduction would seem sensible. Will we stay again? Definitely, mainly in order to visit our daughter, her husband and our granddaughter in Glasgow but also for Scottish holidays. I suspect that my keen fly fisherman son in law will persuade his wife (our daughter) of the merits of a stop off instead of doing the trip in one!…
