Our first stay at a B&B and would highly recommend Timbers. Both Angela and Alan treated us like old friends from the first second we meet, could not have asked for anything more to make our stay any better. We had 'Willow' room which was very comfortable and clean, complimented with the infamous complimentary sherry, fruit, home made cake and...

A very imposing frontage, and a very warm welcome. Excellent inside, freshly baked cake and a pot of tea on arrival. Good garden view from bedroom window, sherry and glasses for guests' use. Well designed shower/WC room, small library for residents, and some books for sale for a modest charity donation. Cooked breakfast was one of the best I have...

Wow Cannot believe this is a bed and breakfast. We have stayed in several hotels and b+bs all over the country on our travels and this has by far been the best you are literally being welcomed to to a luxurious family home . The owners Alan and Angela made us much welcome from the moment they opened the door...

We stayed here overnight around a Christmas visit to family - and it felt like being invited into the family in the best sense.A cheerful welcome, bag carried to room and facilities clearly explained before we rushed off to lunch. First impressions of the accommodation was clean, contemporary and stylish - with nicle touches such as complimentary fruit and sherry....

I stayed for one night and was the only guest. I was made very welcome and felt at home. Refreshments were provided when I arrived and there were extra treats in the room. Breakfast was excellent and help was available about how to get around Colchester and how long my journey across the town would take during rush hour. There...

Alan and Angela were the perfect hosts. From the moment we arrived to the time we left we felt perfectly at home. The room was lovely and spacious and the ensuite was lovely with everything you could wish for. The breakfast was fantastic and really tasty. We would definitely stay here again.

We booked here as we were looking for somewhere to stay on our way to a Christening, and were really pleased with our choice as it was absolutely beautiful! The house itself was lovely and even had a little library. We stayed in the Oak room which was lovely and extremely comfortable, with a pretty view over the garden. The...

I have stayed here a number of times now and, each time, I have had an extremely comfortable stay with Angela and Alan who are perfect hosts. They're always happy to have a chat and give lots of local information or to leave you to it if that's what you need. I've never been disappointed with the breakfast and I'm...

Alan and Angela have been in the hospitality business for many years, and it shows in the slick presentation of their rooms and breakfast, all positively first class. We found Timbers b&b to be well located and easy to find. We would not hesitate to recommend this b&b.

The owners are very welcoming. The breakfasts were the best we have had for years. Our room was comfortable and in value for money terms this place would be in the top 5% of the places we have ever stayed.
