My Girlfriend and I visited last night for a meal. We had never been before my girlfriend rang and asked about booking we were advised that if you come after 3 on a Sunday it gets quieter. And it was. My Girlfriend has to have Gluten free food and they promised that they could do a GF version of all... More

After arriving at the bar we told the bar maid we would like to eat please...we ordered drinks asking 4 a sweet rosa. Was told the one she gave me was sweet as they didnt have Rose Zinfandel ( it wasnt, several friends of mine tried and also said it wasnt .) She spent 15 minutes talking to members of... More

Made to wait 1.5 hours on a very quiet midweek lunch time. Barely a quarter of the tables in use and we were with 2 young kids. Had to walked out in the end, as did another group we saw, as we had an appointment that afternoon. Shame as the place looked nice, but staff clearly amateur. Won't be going... More

We popped here for a family meal and found it very pleasant indeed. Greeted and looked after by friendly staff with a smile on their face. The restaurant itself we found lovely, airy and bright. The food was excellent. Well cooked and good sized portions. Will certainly pay it a visit again in the future.

I stayed 2 nights in room 3, which has a sloping roof which is a bit of an issue if you're tall (I'm 6'1") and you have a shower. The bed is very comfortable, the room was clean and pleasant, but is very small. The evening meal menu was limited but fine, and the food delicious. Breakfast was superb, and... More

Although the staff were very friendly and efficient, the restaurant was clearly understaffed this evening. We ate here regularly here for years and brought family here but it has seriously gone downhill fast with the new ownership. We will not be coming back.

Stopped by for coffee on way to Mersea Island. Very impressed with the pub and especially the welcome received by the young staff. Such a lovely day, sat outside in the sunshine. Situated in a nice spot, the restaurant does good food, recommended by locals. A lovely pub to stop for.

Since our last visit the food portions have gone down and prices for the meals are over the top. menu choice is half what it was, sweets menu was only a choice of 7. Restaurant was nearly empty and this was a Saturday night, this has gone down hill compaired to what it was like,

We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside when we visited yesterday. It is a busy place, but nicely decorated and clean. The service was a bit slow, but as I said it was busy. We enjoyed our visit.
