Large room with plenty of space. Excellent size bathroom with separate shower cubicle and spa bath - didn't use it though. This is our third stay here and it won't be our last. We always opt for the larger rooms, they're very good, and for the money they're great value. Disliked · TV remote was very worn, couldn't see what some of the buttons were for. some of the decor was a bit faded and worn, carpet too. Could do with some refurb. Radiator was going full blast in the corridor outside our room. The corridor was unbearably hot - especially condidering that it was the hottest weekend of the year so far. Air con unit not working, staff said all the units are faulty and this is being addressed.

Despite staying here in excess of 20 nights in the past on business, upon arrival at 9pm I was met with an extremely impolite receptionist whom stated that I couldn’t stay because I wasn’t a key worker. When I tried to explain that I teach engineering locally and had just traveled down 120 miles I was asked to prove it but when I stated that the proof was on my dead phone his response was that power points were for residents only and due to it being lockdown there was nowhere else that I could charge it... when I asked for a refund I was told abruptly to take it up with booking.com. I have since been refused a refund by this hotel and only received anything back as a goodwill gesture from booking.com following an hour chat with their support team.

After receiving a phone call on the day of my booking with them cancelling due to a Covid case in the hotel. I followed up on them refunding my money ASAP. After 26 days they still haven’t refunded I’ve had multiple conversations with staff including manager who informed me it would be refunded that day (it wasn’t) she also denied that they closed that time due to Covid. Reading other reviews complementing the manager I can only presume they are wrote by other members of staff.

Lisa the GM works so hard and is the key to the hotel running as smoothly as possible. Without her, the hotel would be in complete disaster. The under investment is clear to see, however, it is made up by the passion of Lisa and her team. Well done Lisa.
