Took a friend for lunch in the outdoor ‘engine shed’ marquee which was set up nicely. The food was nice especially the sticky toffee pudding. My only criticism is that the service was really lacking. No cutlery for our food and drinks we ordered were forgotten. Both times it took an age to get someone’s attention despite it not being overly busy. We enjoyed it but hoping for better next time we visit!
The Knead Group have mastered the art of creating a new dining experience in unusual times. David and Kelly, with the team, gave a warm greeting and perfect ambience on our return to the dining out experience we have sorely missed. In the Engine Shed you will find a well oiled machine.... excellent fine food (the medium steak cooked to perfection with a scrummy stilton sauce accompaniment) thirst quenching beer (Tribute a delight to the palate) rounded off with a zingy desert. In surroundings decorated with customary character items (not to mention a feature fireplace!) you find yourself forgetting that you’re sat in a marquee outside. Heaters to take the chill off the evening air, comfy high back seats, carpets, zoned areas... all these things combine to show the “extra mile” taken to create a fresh new dining experience. Well done everyone... Team Crown deserve a pat on the back.…
Visited today with my Mum and enjoyed drinks and food. Staff so friendly and helpful. All social distancing and hand sanitisers in place. Great atmosphere what they have done in marquee and outside. Really recommend going.
My husband and I dining here for lunch and we wasn’t disappointed one bit staff were friendly and it was a safe environment with them taking our order from the table. All food we ordered was very tasteful yummy some things we felt didn’t work together but on a whole it all tasted absolutely amazing! The chicken pate was by far the best I have ever tried, I could have happily sat at ate it all day! We will be back for sure!
We stayed here recently and absolutely loved it. This place is special due to the wonderful friendly staff. Our room was clean if a bit tired but none of this matters if there is a good atmosphere and there is. The Crown is very popular with locals and they have a lovely courtyard which beautiful plants which is a quiet spot for coffee or drinks. We enjoyed supper and breakfast in the restaurant. It's an unpretentious good value stop. Try it!
