The hotel has a rich history dating back to the 16th century when it was owned by Bishop Vesey, who frequently entertained Henry VIII. The hotel has 83 bedrooms including four poster rooms, suites, refurbished family rooms and rooms with hot tubs. Guests all have access to the hotel’s leisure facilities which include indoor pool, sauna, steam room, spa bath and gym. There are two restaurants – The Oak Room for a more formal dining experience and The Country Kitchen for a great roast dinner and home comforts. For our anniversary, we booked a hot tub room with garden view (£333 for a one night stay) and as a surprise for my fiancee, I paid extra for a package that should have had rose petals on the floor, prosecco, chocolates and an 'i love you' banner when we arrived (received an email to confirm this would be done). When we checked in there was nothing in the room. I went to reception and then they said 'oh we will do it now'. I said okay but was quite upset as the surprise was ruined. We went for a walk for 40 minutes hoping to come back to the room with the package in there and when we came back the prosecco was there but nothing else. My partner went to reception this time as I was upset in the room that I had tried to plan a lovely stay and it wasn't working out. She was told 'they would do it' but asked for a refund as there was not much point anymore because it was supposed to be a surprise for her. During the time she was down at reception, two other guests let themselves into our room whilst I was sat in there, as the reception had told them the wrong room when they had just checked in and gave them a card for ours. My fiancee passed them on the way back from reception. She went back down to tell reception other people had a key for our room and ran into a manager who was helpful and went to reception with her. Whilst he was talking through the entire situation so far, the receptionist (short brown hair, glasses) got irate and spoke rudely to my fiancee saying 'ive given you a refund now, you said you didn't want the package any more' for the manager to have to explain that wasn't what he was talking about now. Anyway, we cracked on with our evening and the manager gave us free room service which was lovely (although didn't really make up for what happened earlier). Later as we had just switched the lights off to go sleep (about 10.30) a random person forcefully tried to open our door - thankfully the chain was on and was strong as they pushed the door with a lot of force - opening the door so we could see the hallway in the mirror - didn't say a word and left. Called reception and they just said 'that can't happen no one else has a key to your room' which wasn't a satisfactory answer as someone had just managed to let themselves in, only stopped by the chain we had put on. My partner asked for the manager to come up and we explained and he was very confused as he had checked the system and no other keys were authorized for our room and only staff could gain access, which is more worrying than an accidental guest authorisation. Needless to say, as two women, we didn't sleep that night due to the person trying to let themselves in late at night as we were too uneasy. Overall. The room was nice but it was a very expensive one night stay to celebrate our anniversary which was not worth it at all after everything had happened. I went to Moor Hall for an afternoon tea with my daughter and my mother, three generations! The setting is beautiful, the staff lovely and the tea delicious, especially the scones. Even the sun shone for us. I will definitely go again for another special occasion

I booked an accessible room in June for three nights. The room was spacious, clean with an amazing power shower. My spa treatment was amazing, staff brilliant, the manager was very hands on. My only disappointment was I wasn't aware of the live music when I booked, and it was fully booked, I would have loved to go. But now I'm aware, I will keep my eyes open. Can't wait to return

Moor Hall Hotel provided delicious & plentiful food with a comfy bed set in lovely well kept grounds. The staff were friendly helpful & only too happy to help with maps of the area. We enjoyed our stay here & were sad to leave.

Staff went above and beyond in catering for my mother’s big 90th birthday party in June 2022 and then for an afternoon tea in June 2023 for her 91st. Decent food and drink. Beautiful grounds around hotel as well. Peaceful and quiet. Lovely location for a function.

overall good nights stay, biggest problem was the lumpy bed otherwise very good, some things had run out in the room but they replaced them, overall good hotel and the food was good and reasonibly priced.

Had a lovely afternoon tea and stay over with my mom who was celebrating her 85th birthday. Everything classy and elegant. Staff serving afternoon tea and breakfast particularly courteous. Nothing was too much bother. Will definitely be returning.

Had a lovey spa and afternoon tea. Staff were very helpful in the spa and also at afternoon tea. Thanks to Mia and Belle for making afternoon tea a pleasant one and for changing sandwiches due to our dietary requirements. You were both really nice to speak to. I definitely recommend here, the building and grounds are beautiful. My friend and I sat in the garden afterwards in the sunshine, it was a lovely day and evening.
