Finding this gem on our holiday is such a blessing. Great atmosphere, nicely furnished, car parking and beer garden. Bar area very dog friendly and serves same food as the restaurant section. This is a traditional friendly village pub serving really great food, reasonably priced, in a charming off the beaten track village called Halse, not far from Taunton. Easy... More

Although slightly biased as a local to the pub, the management under Alan, Tracey, and Annette create a great country pub. Having recently changed the opening hours to a summer opening time its great for me to go for a cycle during the morning and get there for a pint and some food at lunch time. If you haven't been... Top food and very friendly welcome will recommend to anyone i know. Large car park outside seating and more than adequate room in the pub with lots of seating in the restaurant side as well top stop for top food .its a little out the way but well worth the trip to get to this little gem in the Somerset... The New Inn is a warm and welcoming pub situated in a beautiful village called Halse. Overall this was a very pleasant way to spend a Sunday. Although busy the food was fantastic and the service was second to none. During our short visit for a Sunday lunch we felt at home thanks to the bar manager Annette who not... More

A very disappointing episode. My good friend and I arrived expecting a very pleasant country pub meal. The place was tatty - old and tired - both inside and outside. They had no chicken so when I ordered Moroccan Chicken I was told that the chicken hadn't been delivered! A group of 10 people had booked and just arrived and... More

This inn has a great history. Initially a slaughterhouse, then a coach house, it became an inn in the mid 1700's so you can imagine the feel of the old English pub. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the manager had a good sense of humour believing that the poms are going to win the ashes this season. The... More

Excellent food, friendly atmosphere, wonderful olde bar area, full of character, will certainly return, rooms could do with upgrading but this only adds to the countryside feel, beds and showers perfect, what more can you ask for

What a pleasant place!! After a week away in Taunton and plenty of exploring neighbouring villages we found many nice places but this was near the top. A traditional small village English pub with friendly staff and friendly locals. Sit at the bar or on the couches and chairs and just chat with a good beer or cider. We had... More

This is a terrific little pub. Sure the room was not four star but the bed was comfy and the shower had water pressure. The location was idyllic. The other thing which worked was the food. Fabulous! Try the prawn rissotto or the class curry-yummy. The breakfast was terrific too. Best poached eggs around. Well worth the effort to get... More

We recently stayed at the New Inn, which is set in the tiny but very pretty village of Halse. The accommodation is reasonable, if not spectacular. The ensuite bathroom - being a modern addition to a period property, and having no windows - was a little musty. But the room was clean and fit for purpose. At he price we... More
