Owners Chris & Karen Ward look forward to welcoming you to Yallands Farmhouse - our delightful Grade II Listed building dating back over 400 years, which sat amidst acres of green fields for several centuries. The expansion of Taunton during the 1970's led to new housing being built on the former farmland. The farmhouse, with its secluded garden, small orchard, and stone barn was left intact. As a result, Yallands has become an unexpected 'oasis' of peace and tranquility within a modern corner of Somerset's county town. Yallands offers self-assessed 4 star accommodation in Taunton, Somerset. The house is situated 1 1/2 miles from Taunton town centre, on the north-western edge of the town, and is easily reached from the M5 motorway - junction 25 (4 miles), and junction 26 (6 miles). For those who are reliant on public transport a local bus, with a stop at the foot of the garden, provides a frequent daytime service to and from the town centre. The lovely town centre provides excellent shopping and county cricket, horse racing, golf, theatre and other leisure facilities are all available nearby. Taunton has a good selection of restaurants and wine bars to suit most tastes and the surrounding countryside offers many delightful pubs which serve excellent food. There is ample car parking space in the private grounds together with lockable cycle storage in the stables. Why not enjoy relaxing in our gardens in the summer or sitting in front of our open fire in those cold winter months? Yallands is open all year round and - whether you are a tourist or a business visitor - you can be assured of a warm welcome and our individual attention.Yallands is particularly convenient for Taunton School, The Somerset Heritage Centre & Nuffield Hospital.

Very hospitable hosts from the moment we arrived. We stayed in the Orchard Room which overlooked the garden. Room and furniture though dated, were kept clean and in good shape. Our beds were also relatively comfortable. Breakfast was a real highlight, with acceptional service, a good choice of tea, fruits, cereal, yogurt and full breakfast. There was homemade marmalade, which was absolutely fantastic and definitely worth trying. Two thumbs up from me and the family.

Chris and Karen Ward make you welcome as soon as you arrive. The facilities are excellent and breakfast was fresh and covered all tastes. I would thoroughly recommend this B&B.We did not know the area so our hostess recommended various trips which we followed through with great success.

Recently spent 1 night there on our way home from St Ives. The owners Chris & Karen are extremely friendly. A 400 year old farmhouse which still has some original features is nestled behind mature shrubs and trees literally in the middle of a housing estate. Long ago the land was used for farming but after been sold off new houses were built aroind it which in our opinion was a shame. Saying that, it isn't noisy but you can hear traffic as it's close to a dual carriageway. We had the downstairs room which was pleasant with a double bed, TV and shower en suite. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and there was a good selection to choose from. Ideal base if you're wanting some peace and quiet.

On arrival we were greeted warmly, not only by Karen and Chris but by Pepper the dog! We think he was the vetting agent for guests!! If he wagged his tale you were in! We had a very cosy and comfortable large bed and a quiet position in the farmhouse as requested. We wanted for nothing and if you did, you only had to ask and it was supplied. The breakfast was a fantastic affair, cooked specially for you, and if you need anything more it came but I can tell you when you have eaten one of Karen's breakfasts plus Chris's marmalade you did not need anything more, their breakfasts could last you all day. I thoroughly recommend these folks and hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did. Margaret Hook
