Free parking and a pleasant 20/30 minute walk to the centre. Bedrooms were clean and had nice touches like up lighting and Elemis products in bathroom Good for a one night stay and late check out so not rushing about on a morning Only down fall is the bar it serves basically nothing except a few bottles of cider and Heineken on tap no wine or spirits We didn’t eat food so can’t comment but they had a reasonable priced breakfast menu Would stay overnight again was a good price as well £79 for a Saturday night double room

Booked as part part of spa break. Spa girls were lovely - treatments were good.. maybe not quite as good as some we’ve had before but a lovely relaxing couple of hours. The hotel from check in to check out wasn’t t great. Booked the four poster room which was nice and spacious, a little tired but clean. The radiator was on tho when it was warm weather.. stuffy room with a noisy ancient fan. My partner could not sleep - hot and fan noisy. The pump at the bar failed on ordering a pint, they asked us to pay for drinks more than once, food was mediocre, service at dinner wasn’t so bad but they didn’t know we had booked as part of the spa break deal and asked about paying again… then at breakfast my continental came without the fruit, I asked for the fruit and it still didn’t arrive. The bread was toasted on one side only as well…? I was also informed I should have booked for breakfast but don’t recall being told this at any time - certainly not at check in which was also pretty chaotic. At check out we were not asked how our stay was - we did t feel we could raise our concerns due to the lack of interest from staff. I know it’s tough at the minute and we’re all getting used to coming out of lock down but my partner and I have worked relentlessly through the pandemic for nhs/ambulance service. We didn’t let these niggles totally spoil our trip but my other half is now home and needs a rest - not quite the idea of a costly treat. Somewhat disappointed.

Dear Clembo81, Very dissappointed to hear your comments. It appears we have not delivered our usual level of customer service around the hotel on this occasion. I have noted all your points and will visit them with the team at our meeting later this week. You will see from the majority of other reviews that we get it right most of time but appear to have let ourselves on this occasion. Thank you for letting us know. Best Wishes, John

So pleased I chose this local hotel to stay with my daughter and bridesmaids the night before her wedding for us all to get dressed and picked up for the church the following day. ( party of 10) The staff could not have been more helpful, even when we were running late! The food in restaurant was excellent and so was breakfast. Lovely gardens to sit outside. Great room all next to the bridle suit . Thank you for a most enjoyable time.

We stayed here for 1 night in early June. The building itself is absolutely beautiful and whilst it has been updated the standard of decoration is pretty poor. In our bathroom there were paint smudges all over the cheap laminate flooring. The paint had just been slapped on so hand, handles, hooks and toilet roll holders were covered in it.... on the windows it was so bad there were blobs of paint so thick it hadn't cured! The carpet in the room actually wrinked into a roll in the middle of the room it was so poorly fitted and one of the sash windows was painted shut. Our beds (interlocking twins) wouldn't fully push together but weirdly sloped towards each other so we kept rolling into the middle. Lastly the breakfast to quote my husband was 'the worst hotel breakfast' he had ever eaten.... my continental breakfast was inedible, shriveled up and dry pastries and some pretty sorry looking fruit. Be aware there is no lift (that we were made aware of) and no offer of delivery to the room so you have to haul your bags to your rooms yourself. Positives.... it's very central and it was easy to walk out for dinner, parking was included which isn't always the case these days and there staff were friendly (not amazing service but friendly enough). I'd probably just opt for a premier inn next time.

Dear carolinewoo10, Very sorry to see that we have not delivered on this occasion whilst staying with us. I will investigate the bedrooms and see which room this is to get these issues rectified. Surprised to see negative feedback regarding breakfast as this has been a real positive since we re-opened. I will of course share this feedback with kitchen team. Thank you for the kind comments regarding the building, staff and location. Best Wishes, John
