The staff are the true heroes of this hotel, unfailingly helpful, pleasant and courteous. Both the dinner and breakfast were superb, and the double room was as comfortable as on our first visit. We found the situation of the hotel to be ideal for the exploration of the area, for although we live in Sunderland, we haven't visited Darlington for...

Read earlier reviews and was surprised as found it to be a fab weekend. Arrived on Friday night for a two night stay. Staff were pleasant and helpful and this continued all of our stay. Room was spacious and clean, also had a king size bed which hadn't booked! We visited the spa, great. Then booked a table for dinner...

Reception staff are polite and efficient but the whole hotel is tired, tv on in the bar restaurant was blaring not exactly relaxing. Food is so so, the choice of drinks questionable. The seats were all cracked and the carpets are old and scruffy. The room was ok, the bed was great but listening to someone coughing continuously next door...

I've stayed several times at the Grange and always found it to be pleasant and comfortable with very amenable staff. I have always found my personal needs met with a professional approach and the rooms are above average it terms of size and their fixtures and fittings. Now the gripe. Plan a strategy for parking your vehicle, especially bear in...

After numerous visits to the Blackwell Grange, returned recently for a 3 night B&B unfortunately did not feel any of the magic of previous visits.Reception welcome was warm and efficient and was allocated the requested room (115), for some reason the room felt more dated than on previous visits. Unfortunately I had forgotten about the problem with the dripping shower...

We stayed here using a living social deal purchased on line. The deal was bed and breakfast and an evening meal with a glass of wine. The corridors leading to our room and the room itself were tired and dated but appeared clean. We ordered drinks before our evening meal and if you are a gin drinker beware - the...

Lovely place for a little get away! We were treated by very pleasant staff on reception who were very courteous and helpful. I asked if it was possible to upgrade our room, the lady checked and informed me that this was possible for a £20 upgrade fee, which, after being given the key so we could take a look at...

Room was en suite but very cramped and dated. The food was outstanding, great menu and taste. Bar area is tiny and not worth staying around for, definitely venture out! Situated a 5 min taxi ride to the centre makes it convenient and also very close to the motor way.
