We were returning to the hotel for the first time since we good married. Room, comfortable and fine. Food, total shocker. Freezing beef daube sent back first time, second attempt still lukewarm and barely 30g of meat. Cauli ‘cheese’ slopping in a puddle of water. The service however was courteous, and handled my whinges well. Much as it pains me to say it, the motto is, if you are busy with a wedding (and we know how good these can be), then close your restaurant to other guests.

Stayed here for 2 nights on a brief visit to Poole with family. Firstly, booking was easy and simple, the receptionist we spoke to was extremely helpful. We arrived and check-in was very quick with the friendly staff. The hotel is situated alongside the Poole Harbour which is a nice place to walk alongside where you can find many bars to have a drink. The rooms themselves were very nice and spacious. The bathrooms were modern and clean and beds were nicely made upon arrival. I couldn’t fault the room much at all, it was very nice and well decorated. The bar at the hotel was nice but was very expensive however I will not go into detail into the bar. Breakfast at the hotel was very good. They offer a basic continental buffet consisting of juices, cereals, a hot drinks machine, granolas, pastries and more all of which thought were very nice. They also offered a dish available to order from a menu and options included boiled eggs, a full English breakfast, Eggs Benedict, kippers and much more. Food was great and I thoroughly enjoyed breakfast. Staff were also good and friendly. Moving onto the reasons why this is a 4 star review rather than a 5 star, I had a few issues. If you are a tall person, then you may face a few problems in regards to the room and bed. The bed has a headboard and an end-board, meaning if you are relatively tall than it is likely that your feet may hit the board meaning that you will have to sleep diagonally or curl up slightly. This wasn’t a massive issue as my feet only just hit the board but for taller people, this could be a serious issue. Similarly, with the shower, it is a rainforest shower but if you are tall than you may have to crouch to fit under the shower head. Again it’s not a massive issue but I thought I should point it out. Finally, I thought that it could sometimes could be difficult to sleep due to volume noises. The rooms weren’t great at blocking out external sounds and people in the street and from the downstairs bar and bistro could often be heard as well as things from other rooms such as showers and TVs etc. In addition, the pillows were extremely soft which can make it difficult for people who like hard pillows to sleep. The above issues mentioned are extremely minor but I thought it would be worthwhile pointing these out as I found it relatively difficult to get a perfect nights sleep at this hotel but regardless it was a nice stay and I would highly recommend Hotel du Vin to other travellers in the area.

We stayed in hotel du vin Poole for two nights in one of the deluxe rooms called catena zapata (or something like that) and it was absolutely amazing. The hotel is situated just by the docks and close to everything. The building itself is just stunning. The reception is so cosy with the fireplace and Hermione gave us top notch service. We had dinner at the Bistro and the food was lovely. We also want to thank our servers (Sennen and Kate) as they gave us amazing recommendations and were so polite and attentive. Overall the hotel is nice but the best is the lovely staff. If your are planning to go for couple of days to Poole this is your place.

Lovely little bijou hotel tucked away near Poole Quay. We were staying after attending a concert at the Lighthouse theatre. This little gem is tucked away in a picturesque, Dickensian side street near the water. The suite had everything we needed and the staff were delightful.

The hotel is obviously a good chain and this is a good hotel. It’s Achilles heal is the parking. They have very limited spaces and you have to use a pay car park. We arrived on the Sunday and the machines were clearly broken (and remained so). The app of card payments were not working and we had to scrape together 12.50 in coins. There were a crowd of people experiencing the same issues. Stressed when I went in and explained this. The young woman on reception said “I can show you how to use them”. I have no problem using them. I do it all up and down the country daily. I found this very patronising. We then had to sign for registration and we wanted to know what card we had used. She kept saying it didn’t matter but did to us. Felt really annoyed and let down by front of house. After this it was all very good and professional but I would think twice before returning because of this poor experience.

Dear3elliotw, thank you for staying with us and unfortunately or on-site parking is very limited. The public car park next door is privately owned and managed by car parking company, and therefore we have no control over payment and functionality over its machines. I am sorry that we could not be more supportive in this matter. Kind regards Christian HdV Poole
